I thought someone would have mentioned it before me but Wes would be a little disappointed if someone didn't point out a connection to an older story. In Chapter 16 of Winter Layoff about 1/2 way down there is a reference to Roger Bishop and Catalina Smith from "Cattail" working with power saws and helping the Amish crew.

My post in the Pass Christian, MS thread dated 03/28 mentions in an "oh by the way" style that the Amish crew was the same one as the one mentioned in Cattail.
