Just read your note about Chickens. My dad would rarely eat chicken and one day I asked him about it. His reply: "When we were young there was no money and you raised/grew and processed what you ate. We had chickens. I fed them, cleaned up after them, killed them, butchered them, cleaned them, and ate them, ... a lot. I now have a choice and I choose to not eat chicken unless it is a special occasion."
My wife is a wonderful cook and excels in very tasty chicken entrees. I didn't learn of his "preference" until we were several decades into our marriage when my mother mentioned it after a particularly pleasing family meal with chicken as the main dish. Dad never said a word.
