I concede the skill set is pretty intense for a F1 driver. Don't discount that required for oval tracks though. Juan Pablo Montoya won in F1 and in Indy car, but never won on an oval in NASCAR. His car was good enough, the rookie who took it over has come closer this year than Juan ever did. I love the ebb and flow of a long oval race, and the excitement of the final pass for the lead is always fun. The Indy 500 this year had half a dozen passes for the lead the last few laps. That was pure excitement.

F1 is all about the tech. I remember when they used to put a wooden board under the bottom of the car and if too much of it was worn away at the end of the race the team was disqualified. The way they do it means that each year one team or another has an advantage the others can't really compete with. That loses my interest almost as much as the follow-the-leader type of races.
