Some of us aren't familiar with every story by every writer. Would someone mind sharing which story? I know that there are a number of Lazlo stories on SOL, is that where it is, or is there another site?

Mikey, the story was "The Millionaire Next Door". That and "Thunder and Lightning" are my two favorites of his on SOL.

Thank you - added to the reading list. I've read "Thunder and Lightning". I'll probably PDF the Millionaire story and download it to my phone tonight and read it on Tuesday. I'm running a precinct in the primary election. They expect a 20% turnout, if that. That will mean a lot of time sitting there doing nothing. Having an interesting story to read will make the time go faster.

My dad had an interesting point of view on low turnout elections - one back in the 1959-1960 timeframe (when I was like 9 or 10 years old) had 9% turnout - the lowest in county history. He said something like "That just means that those that do turn out make the decisions for those that don't" And you can depend on the idiots to turn out every time."

He also said that having a ballot stub in his wallet was "his license to complain" for the next four years. Once
he and I were on a bus - the 1957 Ford had eaten it's transmission - and someone was mouthing off about the Kennedy / Goldwater election results (yes, 1964). My dad tuned to the loudmouth, and in a louder voice, said "Hey, you!" (as he held up his ballot stub he had pulled from his wallet). "Do you have one of these?" "No! - I didn't vote, it's all rigged anyway!" "Well, if you don't have one of these then yo have no right to complain! So shut up!" - and half the folks on the bus applauded, the rest were thinking...

If you might like stories with some politics, have you read A Fresh Start by author "rlfj" on SOL? It's not by Lazlo, but still a very good read. Long, much longer than anything by Lazlo or Wes, and it has way more sex, especially early on. The sex tapers off later in the story but your interest in the story won't.

Yeah, he lures you in with sex, and then smacks you with politics. :-)
