In July 1988 the Kenosha, WI Airport was a temporary home to over 100 T-6s. The T-6s gathered in Kenosha to practice formation flying prior to a group fly-in to the EAA "Airventure" show & exhibition in Oshkosh, WI. On the Sunday before "Airventure" I counted over 100 T-6s in the air (at one time) in various flights and formations over my house near Lake Michigan. The Kenosha & Oshkosh gatherings were to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Texan. I've heard stories of folks living near airports during WWII talking about the thrum of the radial engines but had never experienced the magestic sound. At the time, there were two Texans hangared in Kenosha, including one flown by the then CEO of Snap-On Tools.
