They did this last year too and it made quite a change in the canyon. Some beaches got smaller, but most got larger. The water got up pretty high. Ledges campsite which had no sand at all in 2012 was mostly covered with sand this year. However, I have to kind of agree with a commentator on the post. When I was there in June and July of this year Lake Powell was really low. I'm not sure the water is there for this type of massive release.
