Mr. Boyd, I have enjoyed your stories, however, the current one, "Iceman and the Alien", is the exception, I have simply left it after about 10 chapters as I found it just boring.
I look forward to more interesting stories in the future.

I can understand not liking a particular book. I've started "Snowplow Extra" three times and given up each time after a few chapters. You might want to read the on-line version of chapter 22 of the current story. Wes added a bonus feature which was very good.

There have been occasional stories that I've been less excited about than others while they were in progress, but after they were completed, I went back and read them through from the beginning in one or two sittings, and they seemed much better. You might like to try that.

Although I agree about Snowplow Extra (I've also tried it several times and given up), I'd never seen the need to point that out in public, given Wes' excellent writing and that it's probably just my personal taste, not to mention the fact that he publishes it for free.

I thought I was the only one who had trouble with "Snowplow Extra", but I did finally finish it. That's the only one I struggled with tho.

I guess my being a railfan made "Snowplow Extra" come to life for me, being able to follow the bits of the story.

I enjoyed "Snowplow Extra" from the viewpoint of a Firefighter. I also happen to know a bit about railroads form working in transportation and shipping for years, so I was on familiar ground.

Are y'all kidding?!

I know nothing next to nothing about trains (big, powerful, loud) or firefighting (contain, extinguish) but I feel like I was at the scene of an exciting, dangerous and perilous drama unfolding ... Honestly, I thought it was thrilling from beginning to end ...

All of life is not clean and wonderful, there is danger and destruction and tragedies that have to be dealt with and hopefully overcome ...

CHEERS!

I have to agree. I read it as it was being posted, and while I enjoyed the excitement and drama, I'll admit I was a bit lost and struggled with what was happening where. I read it again after Wes put up his hand-drawn map. That was a great help to me in understanding how the locations and rail lines in the story all interrelated.

Now that we are almost to the end I think it would have made a pretty good short story. But the middle has the same conversation going over and over with nothing actually happening. After reading the first few Canyon stories, I'm afraid reading about rafting down the canyon several more times doesn't hold my interest any more.

Actually, of all the stories on the site, "Susan" is the one I enjoyed the least. Susan (the charecter) is a bit of a know-it-all snotty snob, and I found it hard to generate any empathy for her.

The story, as a story, is pretty good- but it wasn't my favorite.

All that said, I'm very glad Wes puts these stories up freely for our entertainment. "De gustibus no est disputandum" - can't please everyone all the time.

Thanks Wes!

Good ending to a good story. By the way, Wes, do you plan to post any "Shorts" in 2013?

Thanks, Boyd Percy

Possibly. They usually don't get a lot of lead time, so it's hard to say.
