Wow, buddy, you beat me to the punch.I was just about to post a separate post about it but after writing half of it, it got erased somehow so i was about to start all over, ugh hate when that happens. Then i saw your post and decided to do it here in my reply

I saw it first thing Christmas morning, at 11 am no less, just couldn't wait. Luckily i had a friend who wanted to see it just as badly.I opted for mattinee and rightly so, the theater was half empty that early so we got the best seats

In a word, i share your friend's opinion, i was a blabbering idiot about this movie the entire day to anyone who would listen. I seriously think it's the best movie i've seen in DECADES and i am not just saying it because of Brad. You know i am not that biased even when it comes to Brad. The film blew me away completely. I am going to see it again on Mon with my man (he is not thrilled about the length of it either but agreed to see it with me)
We made a 50 dollar bet that it will win Best Picture at the Oscars, i am convinced it's a shoo in (he thinks Milk might beat it, yeah right) Now dont laugh but i see certain parallels with Titanic, i anticipate almost the same response. I dont want to give anything away so i won't say why i think there are certain undertones of Titanic but it is so far more superior to that epic that it's almost funny to compare it to it. Seriously, this movie is nothing short of magnificent. I can't say enough about it.
Of couse i bawled my eyes out for about half of it and it's not even supposed to be as much of a tearjerker as i hear Marley and Me is (yep, i'm guessing the dog also gets old and dies at the end, no way am i seeing that one either, i just lost my doggie in April and it still hurts) It does tug at your heartstrings too though. I think the reason for that is because it really speaks volumes about life and what we do with it, what we learn from it, how we choose to spend it with those we love. That's all i will say but definitely bring tissues, especially for the amazing ending!
Brad and Cate do have really palpable chemistry and she delivers a terrific performance. I dont necessarily think Brad's perfomance overshadows hers,i think they are equal here. But it is the story and the movie itself that makes them soar. I dont know if i would go as far as to say Brad's (or Cate's) perfomance is Oscar worthy, he certainly deserves a nomination but more than anything, this movie as a whole deserves an Oscar. And it will get one, mark my words!

i honestly didnt think Mr. Grit David Fincher could deliver such a movie, this is so different from anything he's ever done. But hey, once again, if James Cameron (who made Terminator movies) can come out with Titanic, then this doesn't surprise me in the least either. I think he should get an Oscar for Best Director. This movie also deserves to get Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography, among others. I am banking my 50 bucks on it to take home Best Picture though :)

I am sorry to hear you're sick with the flu, Gina! :( Get well real soon buddy and as soon as you do, go out and see this movie!!

Can't wait to see it again on Mon, i laughed at ppl that saw Titanic 10 times in the theaters but i can honestly see myself seeing this over and over again and i never said that about ANY movie before!
(Although ironically enough i also really want to see Revolutionary Road, heard good things about it.)

Mindblowing movie this is, i am so proud of Brad for being a part of it!!
