I lived with Paul in Concord. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. SO CRAZY such an awesome guy in his own way which would be impossible to duplicate. You are truly missed. I hope Level is all good.

Well if you're like me, and obviously you are, then 80's metal is your thing......well i was just checking out some of the upcoming things goin on here at Universal, and I noticed that they are re-releasing the whole Motley Crue catalog.......from what i can tell it is going to be pretty sick, extra rare and live tracks and the CDs themselves will have some cool enhancement, plus they are also coming out with a DVD of some old video stuff and their behind the music......i also heard something about a website, www.ufanz.com/teams/motleycrue they said it had prizes and some free stuff on it……i got pretty excited when i heard about the releases, so i thought i would let others know...cause it going to be tight!!

i've been searching e-bay for years and anytime something pops up it goes for about a hundred dollars. not that i dont think they're worth it, it's just i never have that kind of money to spend when i need it. i have some very hard to find demos from flotsam & jetsam (85-86,w/newsted!!!),and the most complete collection of metallica demos on earth (except them of course). i'm willing to trade cds or pay cash for very rare old demos from exodus on cd, or even some wardance stuff (which by the way i would love to hear but not on the new exodus cd (unless theres like 20 songs)) anyway, someone please help me out!!!!!!! exodus rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello there metal fans. I just wanna give you a few words about the man and the band. At this day, i must be the biggest fan of Exodus here in Portugal (that's my country). I've been really missing them since 1992. I miss Paul because of what he meant to Exodus (which is my favourite thrash band... and i mean real THRASH!) and me. Bonded was a fantastic record when i heard it about some 10 years ago (ok, i'm only 26). It's a shame that some of my heroes are dying, like him, Chuck Schuldiner of Death or Tony Bono from Whiplash... but then again, i'm not eternal also...
In my opinion, Exodus should stick with Zetro, let's not forget that he was the frontman during their halcyon years, and goddamn it... i admit, i just LOVE THE MAN! Of course, that doesn't invalidate what i think that Paul did a fabulous job on Another Lesson In Violence, but for me Steve Souza is the man! I heard him on Testament's First Strike Still Deadly and tears almost came to my eyes! Can't wait to hear TEMPO OF THE DAMNED!

Anyway, R.I.P. Paul Baloff... you surely didn't deserve that life took you so soon from the metal community worldwide.

I remember in the 80's one time there was exodus on tv, playing live. paul was banging his head off (you only could see a large ball of hair). my dad looked at me while i was watching tv and he said: i think they are pretty good, aren't they. My dad was like 60 years old at that time, and even he noticed that paul was something special.
I never had the oppotunity to see exodus live with paul because the show they would give in "de boerderij" in geleen, holland, was cancelled a few days before it would go down. that sucked at that time and now that sucks even harder.

Dudes. i've been a metalhead since i was about 12 or so. Since about '89. started taping Alice Coopers' raise your fist and yell and tons of kiss. then my tastes turned more extreme. slayer, mercyful fate, sacred reich,wrathchild america, megadeth, anthrax, you get the point. Exodus. absolutely legendary. i sought out the tape AND cd of lessons in violence just so i could have dirty deeds and low rider!!!!!!!! Paul Baloff was'nt as much of a hero as blitz or alice cooper or dave mustaine, but i held and still hold a place for Paul and Exodus in my heart. R.I.P

I was at the EXODUS/VOIVOD show last night in Concord Ca. The show was awesome, loud and proud!!!!!! It also featured 4 new songs from the upcoming album due out in September. The album will be called "Temple of the Damned". The songs f***in ROCKED!!!! Nobody will be let down at all when this one comes out! I thank the Gods of Metal for being able to live in the San Francisco bay area and to be able to see the best metal there is!!!!!!!! Hail EXODUS!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I was one of the original guitarists in the thrash/death metal band Possessed. As such, I played many opening gigs for Exodus in those early days...especially at Ruthie's inn (in Berkeley California). Those were the days and Baloff was at his finest. From the first gig we played with Exodus I was a fan. The blistering riffs combined with Baloff's vocals were forever etched upon my mind; absolutely perfect. In addition, Baloff was always cool to me. He was probably not thought of as a people-person, but he was to me; an all around awesome guy. I left possessed because they wanted to be slayer clones with the upside down crucifix etcetera, but they really weren't really able to cope with that. They spread all sorts of rumors and claimed that they had in fact fired me. They were too young to have developed any sense of dignity at that time. Be that as it may...

Now I'm in my thirties, employed as a senior software engineer, and I'm still an Exodus fan!!! I only came upon this website by chance. I was searching the internet for some Bonded by Blood mp3 files and happened upon these pages. Gary (Holt), I don't know if you'll see this, but if you do, I'm sure you will remember me. Let me say that I was always an Exodus fan and I still am. And that Bonded by Blood with Paul Baloff is the #1 metal album of all time. Where can I get the mp3 files?

when i heard for the first time "bonded by blood", i was 20 years old and new to heavy music. i find the voice on that lp "horrible". how could someone sing? like that! with time, and after listening again and again i started to respect and even love the sound of that voice. then i saw the first pictures of exodus and after i discovered who was the singer, i started to felt symphaty for paul. i don´t know why, but paul had something unique, like an aurea...something that only an honest , funny, passion, charisma guy, that stands true with what he believes and does, have.i received the death of paul with surprise and imediately, a deep sadness took over me,just like if i had lost somebody that was close to me. i will always remember the name of PAUL BALOFF, his image and voice.

Exodus are it! saw then in Birmingham, England in 89 or 90 (Acid Reign supported).
Why is Force of Habit album so overlooked? Although it was a departure from thrashing Exodus of old it was still as heavy with killer solos.
Anyway look forward to the new tunes.

Zetro is the fucking man! Baloff was well and good but Zetro has that cackle hissing preach sound that makes songs like AWOL and Heads They Win(Tails You Lose) timeless. Within the Walls of Chaos is not a song it's a fucking magnum opus. Even now everytime I hear that song I want to kick my walls and shake the rafters. Does anyone have Good Morning? I've never been able to find this treasure and would give a kidney for it

Paul Baloff was a raving mad lunatic on stage but he was the icing on the cake as far as being a perfect mesh for the brilliant metal that Exodus churned out. Never did screams fit so perfectly with music. I bought Exodus' first album because I thought the album looked cool and the songs titles were hilarious. Little did I know that this album would break into my top ten of all-time after giving it a spin on the turntable. I had to go see them live after wearing the album out on my record player. I'll never forget what a great show they put on at the Seagull Inn in Baltimore, Maryland back in 1985. Probably the best performance I'll ever live to see in a small venue. When the live album came out in 1997, I just couldn't believe they could put out a better album than Bonded By Blood, but they managed to do it, putting out the heaviest live album of all time. Baloff screamed his way into immortality. These guys are the same age I am and I get a headache after about 5 minutes of leaping around onstage nowadays. HAIL PAUL BALOFF!

i still remember the day i found out paul died like it was yesterday. it was a few days after, some old and new friends
informed me. i remember my heart just sunk. i knew paul for a few yrs. we'd hang and rage when he would come down to monterey and a few times in s.f. paul was and still is the heaviest fuckin rager ive ever met. its a shame that we lost contact after about my 1st yr in new york.

Exodus will never be the same.Thanx for the live album.I think the live album proves that Paul was the man...I have been a fan of exodus since the 80,s .I finally got to see them live at Slim's in S.F. I wanted to by Paul a drink But couldn't get the nerve to talk to him at the bar.Now i wish I would have. I had a three hour drive back home wishing that I would have. This show rates as the best that I have ever experienced .Exodus will always Live on as I play the live cd Daily.

I cant believe thats its already been one fuckin year since Baloff died. I remember like its yesterday that I was at the Anthrax show where Scott Ian and John Bush announced his death and instead of having a moment of silence they had a moment of loudness, what Paul would have wanted. like so many others of his time, he'll never get the respect he deserves. a legend. the first exodus albuum secured his place in history. too bad metallica never let exodus do a full world tour with them, like when the "black album" was blowing up. but i guess they were too busy with bad songs, bad haircuts, and kissing up to kid rock and ja rule, etc... to hook up a real band like exodus or mercyful fate. r.i.p. baloff, if the tables were turned i think you would have remembered the bands you started out with.

On December 13, 2001 the metal community was shaken to its foundations, yes almost paralysed. Chuck Schuldiner is dead! Despite all hope for recovery, waiting in vain for a new Death album. Chuck and DEATH was the symbioses of total madness, perseverance and creativity. Chuck was the much-adored innovator, who actually was able at all times to gather and enchant people around him. I'm very sure that every single one of you has a Death album at home, and among them certainly is one that means more to you than just music. Chuck infected listeners, changed many enlightened fans into musicians themselves, who on their turn took other fans in their slipstream, whether it was with raw outbursts like 'Scream Bloody Gore' or with technical masterpieces like 'Symbolic'.

It is our turn to give something back to him, by keeping him in our prayers and/or morbid blessings.

I will always consider Exodus' 1st album Bonded by Blood one of the greatest, wickedest and quality heavy/thrash metal albums out there. Paul Baloff's vocals are among the best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing from any metal singer. I have just one question, I have never exactly understood why Baloff left Exodus after Bonded by Blood. The other guy (Souza) is ok, but I believe Baloff would have been awesome had he stayed. Any info on why Paul left Exodus after that 1st album would be much appreciated. Thanx.

I want to say that I am very excited to know EXODUS is back and kicking major butt again. I LOVED "Force of Habit", ten years later, I still listen to it once a week, and play guitar along to it all the time. I tune to D, so does the mighty EXODUS. A new EXODUS CD? Who would have ever thought it possible.

To Mr. Paul Baloff, your stamp of Metal will never be forgotten, cause you left your stamp, your mark for the whole world to see. "Bonded by Blood" is yet another EXODUS CD that just still never has gotten the recognition it deserves. Maybe someday, it will.

I seen these guys so much in the 80s they fucking owned the bay area. SAw Baloff about 20 times, exodus shows were violent, crazy and very much fun.

Paul was great a happy guy, always talking about bashing poser's.

I remember hearing a Thrash Metal compilation tape a friend had in school wayyyyyyyyy back in 1984 when I was a budding Metalhead. On the tape were early Slayer, Metallica, Accept, Helloween and, of course, Exodus. I was hooked, and I still have the Music For Nations 'BBB' vinyl release to this day.

I remember when Mr. Baloff left Exodus, then 'Pleasures' was released, and I remember thinking, 'Nah, it's not the same'. But there was talk of Baloff joining German thrashers Destruction at one point - I still salivate at the thought of what music they would have made ...

I was surprised at how heavy songs from the 'Pleasures' album sounded on the live CD, which made me dig it out again. It's a classic waiting to be rediscovered.
I was saddened to read about Paul Baloff's passing - I never knew the man, but I grew up with his (and the rest of the band's) music. Surely no greater form of respect.

Exodus are playing a couple of dates in the UK in December - if you can fit it please play in Dublin, Ireland. There is a HUGE Metal following in Ireland and you will be welcomed like the conquering heroes you are.

Stay heavy.

I was always annoyed that, being from the UK, I could never find out what you guys were doing... Now I have a chance to find out all the stories from you, instead of hunting around...

I was shocked when I heard the bad news in February, as Paul symbolised that attitude when it came to Exodus and metal in general! I thought that it was cool to find that he'd been on the live album from 1997. I also think Zetro's cool too (I know he was the original singer in Testament - another of my favourite bands...), and the first album I ever got to hear was 'Pleasures Of The Flesh'.

It was very difficult for me to have heard any of the albums before the last few years, both because of the shitty metal scene in the UK (It's getting better, honest!), and also because 'Bonded By Blood' came out when I was 5! Still, I've managed to build up everything but the 97 live album, and a decent version of 'Impact Is Imminent'.

Now I'm trying as hard as possible to clear my schedule for December, as I'm not missing you guys on tour in the UK!!! There's too many bands that are in my collection that I can never see (like Slaughter (Can), Death, Emperor, Obituary...), but Exodus is coming to my area in December!! I never thought it would happen...

I recently watched the Metallica behind the music and saw that they interviewed the late Paul Baloff ( Rest In Peace ). In one of his statements Paul said that in the metal under ground ( i'm thinking about early 80's ) there was this thing where many of the fans at the shows would tear shirts off bands that they didnt like, i think he used kiss and motley crue as examples.. But where any of these bands punk or hardcore bands? Was there at that time like a "fued" or an over all bad feeling between these Metal groups and these punk groups? Its just a question thats been threw my mind since viewing that interview , as I'm a big metal fan and I am not a fan of punk rock or hardcore. Thanks in advance if anyone can answer my question.

It's a shame that Paul has 'left the building'. I am 37 now, and almost 20 years into metal, and still consider Bounded by Blood as one of my favourites. Stuck in the past ? Nah, I've had my share of 'new' metal: Slipknot, Machine Head, Korn, Coal Chamber, Mudvane; you all know the names. But it doesn't get near BBB. Why ? Of course the Holt-Hunolt twin performance is unsurpassed, even by their later albums. And let's not forget Tom's drums: 10 on the Richter's scale (you really are a sick man). But what gives Bounded its intensity was(is) the the pure violence of Paul's voice. Was he a great vocalist ? We all know the answer to that. But he sounded like he just got back from a 24 hour lesson in violence, and ready to take off for your house any second and personally 'slice you through the door'. I do not doubt that he was a sweet guy, but his voice was from hell, and that's what gives BBB its unique, ultra-violent sound. Steve, you're doing a great job, but no-one can beat Satan himself.

Been a huge fan of you guys since 1987 .... I remember meeting Rick and Gary at The Ritz in Detroit Mi. I think back in 1990 with Suicidal and, before they were known, Pantera. i have a story i want to share with everyone, it started last year when i was working in a comic book store, (comix plus music exchange) in thunder bay, ontario, canada, the place is awesome, they've got everything from collector comics, to vynil, i got not only megadeth's kiling is my business in mint shape, but also slayer's show no mercy in mint shape, both on vynil, anyway, i was looking through the tapes, and i knew a little bit about exodus, mostly that it was kirk hammets' roots, and i came across impact is immonent, and i asked the owner if i could have it, (cause he would've just tried to sell it for like 1.50 anyway, i asked him if i could have it, he saw how excited i was, and said, fuck ya, doesn't really matter to me,so i took the tape home, unfortunately on the same day i bought some sabbath records, and totally forgot about the exodus tape, then after about a month i grabbed the tape out of the case and popped it in to seriously listen to it, and MY FUCKIN' GOD, Exodus is what i've been looking for, old thrash, great to the core, kicks some ass, fuckin' love the stuff, it's like everything that i love to listen to, metallica, megadeth, anthrax, (especialy slayer) and it's awesome, i did a little bit of back up info on the web, and you guy's have so far led what could've been an amazing career, what i wanted this to say is that you've got to get back together man!i mean, if not for me, then for all the other true thrashers, that haven't seemed to pick up on the exodus waves,

This is a random message. But uhh I am Gary's nephew Joseph. I don't see him very much. I have grown up quite a bit since the last time he's seen me, and I have started my own band called Shadows Cast. We aren't thrash metal stuff. We are more hardcore I guess, with a few metal parts. But what I'm trying to say is we should play a show together. We have a website, its www.shadowscast.net. We are all Christians in the band. d we don't drink or anything like that. I'm a late Exodus fan, but I'll always remember when I've heared for once "Toxic waltz" and "Fabulous disaster" ! Exodus became my favourite band that day and 'till now ! Thousands time of "Only death decides" hearing and this is still my mythical song.
I haven't seen them live as it's quite rare here to have thrashmetal shows (in France!) but I really hope to discover
them soon with a brand new destrucive album !!

The Wacken show ruled. They opened with A Lesson In Violence and went into Fabulous Disaster.

The new songs are pretty cool, kinda mid tempo though......we want some rippers! The overall sound was pretty lousy considering how damned huge that PA was. Gary's mic was off in the house PA for the whole show (we couldn't hear a word you said, and i was in the second row) It took a while for the sound man to find the guitar faders and crank them.....especially Rick's. anyways it really mattered little because we were all totally fucking hyped. i have never heard a crowd so loud....i couldn't speak after screamin every lyric i knew.

The coolest thing though was the dude in the wheelchair whose friends pushed him through the crowd (and through the foot of mud absorbing straw on the ground) to the front where he got out of the wheelchair and hung on to the front railing for dear life! WICKED! Ever better was that later his friends lifted him up and he crowd surfed!!! NO shit! Of course he ended up going right over the front and into the hands of the bouncers who probably were a little freaked to find out that the guy couldn't walk when they put him down! His wheel chair was sent over the barrier a little while later.....hahah it ruled. the crowd was the best. The band were totally sotked too. Zetro declared German metal fans the best in the world. hey! what about the 40% of the crowd who come from all over the world? (Canada here) WOA is totally a metal mecca and you should plan to attend at least once.

back in the early eightees i got hold of three albums that changed my life.
one of them was Bonded by Blood.
to this day it still remains one of my favourite albums of all time.
i never got to see exodus with paul, but have seen many live videos.paul came across as a brilliant frontman which complimented an excellent live band, he was witty and you could see he gave 100%.
i still play the live album when i d.j and at home, i have introduced exodus to a whole new younger audience.
to pauls family and to ther rest of exodus my heart goes out to you.
to paul and exodus, thank you for changing my life you will live long in my memory.

I was just searching the internet tonight and found out that Paul died. I can't believe I did not find out sooner. My first reaction was complete horror. I was just listening to Bonded by Blood the other day for the first time in a long time and reflecting back to the old days and how great the album was and still is. The album always made my blood boil. What a shit year, first Chuck of Death and now Paul.

Well all I wanna say is I AM SO PLEASED there is finally an EXODUS web site.I'm 26, but I first heard EXODUS when I was 11!Which, coincidently, is the same year I got my first guitar.I have NEVER stopped listening to them since, and they to this day are one of my 3 favorite bands/influences.Paul was the greatest voice ever...THE HEAVIEST.But no disrespect to ZETRO...I am psyched to know that the flag still flies.ZETRO is ruling....and as much as I love the early stuff the most, my favorite EXODUS tune might even be FASTER THAN YOU'LL EVER LIVE TO BE....

Well, what should I say?
I' m still very shocked about the loss of Paul Baloff. Unfortunately I didn' t know this special tribute site until this day. Paul was Metal. He was successful in establishing Thrash-Metal as this wonderful music we know nowadays. The Metal/Rock scene lost such a high number of important personalities in the last months. Where does the scene end? It' s a horrible situation for all of us. I hope that we all will be able to act in a way, all these legends would be proud of us and of the scene. Bang your head against the stage and metal takes it' s price...you know. R.I.P. Paul!!! I hope that you are at a better place now, without pain.

Unfortuneatly I never saw Exodus with Paul. I saw them when they played with Celtic Frost in Phoenix. I wanna say that was back in 87-88? (Id have to look at my ticket stub, I still have it). Fuckin killer show! I also saw them play the "Pleasures of the Flesh" Festival as well. It was Exodus, MOD, Heathen, Sacred Reich, and a slew of other bands, I cant even remember. It lasted like 12 hours. If anyone remembers that, what were the other bands?

I remeber buying an exodus album in 86 after seeing them on the ultimate revenge video. paul carried the thrash metal flag. He aged and still carried that flag until he died. I was glad I got to see exodus in 97 with paul on vocals.

Anvil Chorus, Brocas Helm, Legacy, Vicious Rumors and EXODUS...man, what I would have been like had I lived in SF back then....

I didn't know Paul. I didn't see Exodus back when he first sang for them. I guess I wasn't even that much of an Exodus fan during the whole "Toxic Waltz" era. Whatever. This ain't about music; it's about a tragedy. Paul's sudden death bugs the hell outta me. How can you explain the shock, especially so soon after Chuck Schuldiner's death? Without Exodus, much of the thrash, death and even black metal that we have today wouldn't be here. "Bonded By Blood" is a classic with few peers, and Paul seemed the same from all that I've read and seen over the years. To his family and friends, you have my sympathy. It royally sucks when someone close to you dies, especially when it's so suddenly. Another metal brother is gone, but not forgotten. RIP, Paul.

I'm deeply heart broken by the death of Paul Baloff. Paul was the ultimate frontman and was a hell of a funny guy too. There will forever exist a sacred place in my heart and thoughts of the Bay Area Thrasher Pioneer and Hero, Paul Baloff. I will never forget his true power, talent, intensity, and rage portrayed in all the hard work he did. Exodus' classic album "Bonded By Blood," is the greatest and will never get old. I've been around the bay area metal seen for some 15 or so years, and it has suffered a great loss. The last time i saw PAUL was at THRASH OF THE TITANS in support of another metal brother chuck billy and thats how i remember paul, he would do whatever it took to help another brother out. To see him on stage with those 2 chicks at TOTT was hillarious. so paul we'll see you in metal heavan and make sure while your there waiting for us you "DESTROY" something. I am so so sad to hear of Pauls death,I'm finding it very hard to believe;it just doesn't seem right,you know? I met Paul close to eighteen years ago,I remember the days of drinking "Andre" pink champagne in Berkeley at T.O. park and listening to Paul talk about his need to destroy all posers. It makes me laugh when I think of the place he was living in on San Pablo ave.I must say that he was not the best house keeper around,that's for sure.Also the Ruthies Inn days will never be forgotten. I last saw Baloff at the Thrash of the Titans gig in SF. He was there supporting his friend Chuck Billy and his illness. Little did we all know that Baloff would go first. To bad we couldn't have all done something for him. I never knew Paul, but I grew up listening to Exodus, old Metallica, Testament, all the bay area thrash as well as all good thrash from the rest of the world. I lived, ate and breathed metal, still do actually. As a matter of fact, I started out listening to regular metal, Priest, Maiden, Saxon, and the first Thrash I heard was a recorded tape a friend of mine gave me. On one side was Exciter, Heavy Metal Maniac, and the other....Exodus, Bonded By Blood. Needless to say, I kept rewinding the Exodus side and listened to it over and over. Baloff was a true pioneer in the thrash metal sceen, I was very saddend to here of his passing. It's good to see Exodus is still going, I'm assuming they have Souza back. They are playing in my hometown, Fresno,Ca. next week 5/31. I'll be there......won't be the same without Baloff though.

It's been just a few days that I heard about this tragedy.
I really loved Bay Area Thrash Metal but I more than adored Exodus and most of all Mister Baloff for his ruling singing lines on the most brilliant and brutal guitar riffs in this kind of music. Although I'm more into scratching vinyl now which is also a Bay Area kind of thing I'm still digging my "Bounded By Blood" once in a while.I can remember how hard it was to get the original US Pressing with the lyric sheets here in Germany but I digged hard and finally got it.
This record gave me so much good time in my youth and I'm so sad that I never made it to see this guy live on stage.
You guys definied my way of what Thrash Metal is all about.
I'll always love you for that and I'll always love and remember Mister Baloff for that.

I remember it was in 1985 when I fisrt heard what it would be a great influence on the current metal world, it was the song "strike of the beast" and since that precise moment exodus and paul´s hellish vocals made me give a total round to the thrash metal forever and love it since then. I never had the oportunity of attending to any of the exodus concerts but paul´s demise is very shocking for me, I feel bad because exodus and paul make remember good and bad things of my past life when I was younger and knowing that paul is gone is sad. we will remember you forever.

I had actually known about Paul's passing pretty much the day that it happened, but I was sitting here today listening to an old Exodus live tape while reading the posts and thought I should post something. Bonded By Blood is, without a doubt, one of the greatest true metal albums ever! A lot of it's greatness had to do with Paul. Just reading interviews with him or listening to some of the shit he would say between songs on some of the live tapes I have. He was what metal is all about. I don't think anyone was more metal than him. I think my friend said it the best when he said that whether Paul was in heaven or hell he would be re-killing all of the posers that he killed when he was on earth. That pretty much sums it up.

WOW, another huge musical influence has passed away. I am 31 years old, and it seems like yesterday San Fran was ruling the scene. Exodus was right there, leading the way. I can only hope that Paul is doing the toxic waltz right through the pearly gates. God bless brother.
