I agree with you, BDM. The show *really* should have ended at season seven!!
Certainly, I wouldn't have objected to us being shown more clearly that the MSR had involved from a friendship to a romance. Quite frankly, I would have liked to have seen it end with them getting married. Yeah, I know a lot of people object to this but, in all honesty, could it possibly have been any worse than what we *did* get during seasons eight and nine??
I really didn't care whether Samantha was dead or alive. And I still hold that the whole "Who's Your Daddy?" mytharc storyline would have made a hell of a lot more sense if Jeff Spender and Fox Mulder were indeed half-brothers, but that it was because William Mulder impregnanted Cassandra Spender, rather than because CSM impregnanted Tina Mulder.
I agree that CC blew it. If they'd ended it after season seven, they could have continued the storyline in a series of XF movies (the second one would probably be out on video by now and the *third* one might even be in production) which could have been as long-lastsing as the "Star Trek" or "James Bond" movie series. Instead, we got a couple of lackluster TV seasons that dragged down the quality of the show as a whole.
