In reply to: BDM 's message, "season 1 on DVD" on 08:27:16 01/29/05 Sat

I got season one for Christmas, BDM, so if you want to "talk" about any of these eps, post something here and I'll reply.
The most sensible explanation of Mulder's religion I've ever heard is that his father was Jewish and his mother was a Protestant Christian. Thus he's not really considered Jewish (as I understand it, you have to either be born to a Jewish mother or convert as an adult to "be" Jewish) but does have some familiarities with the customs and teachings, because of his father's family. What I find weird is that in the early seasons -- both "Conduit" from season one and the "teacher who's a witch" (can't think of its name right now) ep from season two -- Mulder does seem to believe in God. Later on he gets pretty hostile to religion, making comments that portray him as agnostic, if not a downright atheist.
What I liked about "The Jersey Devil" was that it was one of the rare episodes where Scully was right. While it's hard to use the world "normal" to describe people who live naked in the woods and eat other human beings, the autopsies proved that, from a biological perspective, the "devils" were human beings. . .NOT some sort of missing link.
