I remember going here. I was just married in April of 73 and my new sister in law [ much more worldly than I } who lived in Walworth NY. called her brother {my husband } and said we should come up to her house she had tickets for a concert.
I came from home{ a catholic home in Erie, Pa.}before I got married and I was so not prepared for what I was about to experience.
I am new on the computer and for some reason I looked up Watkins Glen and loved looking at the pictures. The four of us were there for 2 days. We could see the stage. We slept if we slept right on the ground where we where at all the time. One of us would leave for water I remember that. You would have to walk all through the bodies of people and not step on anyone. When you got a jug of water and it was free I think, you were so happy because you were so hot and so thirsty. As you walked and walked back to your spot people would say "hey man can I have a drink of that water" and I was more than happy to give them a drink. You would get back and your jug would be empty. But.. that was ok because whoever had anything shared and was so nice about it. I have such nice memories of that place. it was crazy and dirty and crowded beyond belief and Hot and wet and muddy and loud and shocking but... it is one of the best memory times of my life. We had photos... I took them to a family wedding and left them there. I would do anything to have those pictures.
Wanna here something funny ? Now.. don't forget I was a straight little Catholic girl. I remember going into the outhouse and taking my bra off. going braless... wow what a bold move for me. ofcourse I put my blue tank top back on. See I even remember I had a powder blue tank top on that day. Oh yea.. and silver Peace sign earrings. I am 56 now I was 22 then. Wow.. were did the time go. Thank you for this web page Thanks for the memories.
