"snippet of crap" ? That seems a little harsh. I think it certainly holds some merit. We all need to bare in mind though that this MUD is run considerably differently than most other RPI's out there, something which both frustrates me, but also something I admire, and what draws me to play here more than anywhere else.
We just need to be a little more considerate of other players I think. Think twice about your reasons for killing or preying on someone that is LD or AFK... if it's someone you would generally kill, then Elwar's rules say it's OK to do so, fine... if you are only going to kill them because they are LD and can't defend themselves, so an easy kill, think twice about it. The important thing is that you have an IC reason.
Rightly or wrongly, those are my thoughts. Perhaps Elwar could re-iterate and reinforce his own views/rules?
