Hi Concerned Person, I was able to contact another solicitor who is really knowledgeable on this type of claim, in fact he said you have a very strong case however I do not have a Church Rule book but you can get the rule/by-laws from the SNU web site, and the information I am going to write on here for you is very important and I do strongly urge you to have a consultation, you could also show the solicitor of your choice or the CAB (Citizens Advice bureau) this information which I am about to give you this is the information I am to pass on to you from ColinWestley
If the committee deviate outside the SNU rules knowingly (which you know they have) the culpability would lay with the local committee (THE COMMITTEE THEMSELVES INCLUDING WENDY AS THE PRESIDENT ) so therefore any civil action you take would lay with the committee and president and not with the SNU as a whole, as the committee/President have knowingly deviated from the rules. therefore any civil action that was ensued would be against the collective committee (individuals who have been elected on the committee including Wendy as President) as a result of this, they would need to acquire legal defence either individually or collectively and bare the costs as such, I do not believe insurance would protect them from operating outside the SNU rules, hope this has helped you I am off tomorrow but if I have any more information that I think might help I’ll post it on here by for now
:)
