In rereading this part (for the umpteenth time) I'm struck by the choice of the word 'gripped' rather than 'grabbed'. If you grab something it's less certain than if your grip something. It's more deliberate, less spontaneous. Our man here wasn't playing. -- Ladies of Lallybroch Social Board
