Subject: What a complicated relationship. I was thinking of Percy the other day. A man came to the cemetery to see about replacing a WW I veteran marker that had severely deteriorated. When he showed me all the documentation needed for the VA, he told me that even though this young man was reported KIA on the a Russian front, he actually killed himself. How horribly sad for the family that they would feel shame, how that could NOT be known. It wasn’t as bad as Percy’s young lover being executed, but it reminded me of it.
