Subject: I read it a couple of times - like I do with all of The Books - before I caught the rhythm of it. It's different than the main books but it reflects John's life in London, more complicated and hurried.
In reply to: Kathy in PA 's message, "I had a hard time with this book at first - it seemed so different than Outlander and I didn’t love Lord John yet. But I learned a lot. The horror of venereal diseases back then was made very clear to me. They really were a death sentence. The callousness of Trevelyan, I love Diana’s sarcastic “Honorable.” And how in a few sentences she shows how different live was just on the other side of a door." on Mon, December 04 2023, 19:15:50
