Now I'm a new guy here, and indeed to the whole Trek vs Wars debate, however this seems to be the major point on the Turbolaser/Phaser debate.

Reading various stuff around on this the speed of both phasers and turbolasers are claimed to be a number of things, in fact though doesn't the Clash of The Titans page this forum is linked to have this data.

Like is said, doesn't matter how powerful your weapon is if you can't hit anything.

To input in a clearly intellectual power of the weapons argument both sides have powerful particle based weapons systems. Sheer power has to go to the Star Wars camp, as does number of weapons per ship. This is of course for ship based weapons. hand-held weapons are another matter, which to be honest I have no real knowledge of.

Getting hung up on the technobabble seems to cloud the issue. As does getting hung up on the word laser.
