Alexis sighed as she stirred the fire with a branch. How could she explain to Jeff that she was what he feared most? How was she going to tell him that HE was what he feared most?

She looked up to meet Jeff's eyes and offered a weak smile. "It really is nothing important. And to tell you the truth I don't want to talk about it."

She went back to stirring the fire. "Can I ask you a question?" She kept her eyes away from him as she asked, "Why do you hate and fear the Cheysuli so much? I mean, did they ever do anything to you?"

In the distance Monet lifted his great golden head and sighed, ::Alexis, be careful what you ask.::

With great care she shrugged off her lir and glanced to Jeff, "I mean, what if you were a really great guy and everyone hated you just cause you had a wolf familar?"

She shifted her eyes away, "Seems to me that it just wouldn't be fair. I mean, we chased that warrior away just cause he had yellow eyes and speaks to a wolf. And his brothers. They maybe Cheysuli, but I am sure that they have never harmed a thing in their life."

Monet shook his head and gently groomed Gwen's head. ::She is not going to let this go you know. We will be lucky to get them to the other side of the mountain.::
