A brief note on some of what I will call the protestant principles for identifying heresy - protestant principles verses various dishonest, and non-applicable “tags” the Vain Jangler incorrectly tosses about others such as “Baptist” which are without any particular universal definition in the modern age and do not apply to those he desperately attempts to pigeonhole with arbitrary labels he pulls out of a hat when he addresses them. It is sort of analogous to someone arbitrarily deciding to call “Robert” by the name Jennifer. Jack can call Robert the name Jennifer every time he addresses Robert, but that does not make Robert into “Jennifer.” His calling me a “Baptist” or an “Independent Baptist” does not make it so. It is a trait of cults such as the JW’s and LDS to redefine commonly used terms and assign the words where they do not belong.

To demonstrate this; Obviously those on this board and Jack Howell are chasms apart doctrinally, yet Rev. Howell insists we all have, or did have common “Baptist” or “Independent Baptist” roots at one time. I speak to the fact that Rev. Howell has spoken of some connection he has, or did have at one juncture to both Baptists and Independent Baptists according to his recorded posts since August this year. Yet it is quite clear that while I do not define myself as being a member of either of these groups, and my doctrine is night and day from Jack Howell’s, he has willfully and intractably insisted I am associated with these groups.

Some protestant principles for identifying heresy -

the Bible alone is the written Word of God, and as such is the infallible, definitive standard in matters of controversy in the church.
This principle follows from the teaching of Jesus Christ Himself, who taught that while human tradition and religious leaders are fallible, Scripture is the Word of God and never errs (Matt. 5:17-20 ; 15:3-9 ; 22:29 ; John 10:35 ). Since to be a Christian means, minimally, to be a follower of Jesus Christ, no person or group can claim to be truly Christian that does not at least acknowledge this special authority of the Bible.
So what does Jack Howell cite as the authority for believing his “Gap Theory”?
I Quote him: Above I mentioned that the Scofield Reference Bible taught the "Gap Theory." I dug out my 1917 edition of the Scofield Reference Bible and here is what it says regarding Genesis 1:1 and 1:2:

2 But three creative acts of God are recorded in this chapter; (1) the heavens and the earth, v. 1; (2) animal life, v. 21; and (3) human life, v. 26, 27. The first creative act refers to the dateless past, and gives scope for all the geologic ages.
3. Jer. 4:23-26, Isa. 24:1, and 45:18, clearly indicate that the earth had undergone a cataclysmic change as the result of a divine judgment. The face of the earth bears everywhere the marks of such a catastrophe. There are not wanting intimations which connect it with a previous testing and fall of angels. See Ezk. 28:12-15 and Isa. 14:9-14, which go beyond the kings of Tyre and Babylon.

Now, everyone knows that the Scofield Reference Bible has long been the study Bible of choice among Baptists, including Independent ones, so it strikes us as odd that "Sola," "Tamarisk," "ACNR," and the one who posted as "Someone From A Lateral Solar System Called Texas" are unaware that C. I. Scofield was a proponent of the Gap Theory and taught it in his study Bible. It strikes us as odd that they condemn and ridicule Rev. Finis Jennings Dake for teaching the Gap Theory, but remain silent regarding Scofield teaching it.

The original challenge presented to Jack Howell which he has willfully muddied in an attempt to cause confusion. was for him to defend Finis Dake’s position regarding his heretical teaching of “Lucifer’s Flood.”

Jack States: ” It strikes us as odd that they condemn and ridicule Rev. Finis Jennings Dake for teaching the Gap Theory, but remain silent regarding Scofield teaching it.” (“us” – he have a bupkes in his pocket?)

“Odd”? - - - “Odd that we remain silent about Scofield”???? Why? No one here advocates Scofield’s teachings. They never have. Nor have we promoted the teachings of any tradition of man. Jesus is the ONLY authority on this board, as was revealed in His Holy Word. No one here has “moderated” or publicizes themselves as a “Scofield Board Moderator” We do not sell or promote Scofield Bibles. We do not have links from our boards to “Scofield discussion groups.” We are not advocates, or promoters of Scofield. We do not routinely cut and paste his quotes, nor act as a promoter of Scofield. No one here has repeatedly quoted Scofield. Infact, I do not recall us ever quoting him or referencing his notes – certainly not more than the times you could count on one hand.

Contrast our position and relationship to Scofield Bible and with these many quotes about Finis Dake made be Jack: ” POSTED BY: revjackhowell

SUBJECT: Dake's Annotated Reference Bible
"In my opinion, the Dake Annotated Reference Bible is the world's finest! To order this outstanding study Bible at reduced rates, click on the link below:"

This is what PFAI recommends on it’s site: ” The Dake Annotated Reference Bible from Dake Publishing, is like no other study Bible on the market.,,,,then two paragraphs are dedicated to advertising Dake’s works.”

Jack’s Own Site claims: ” DAKE Publishing - The fine people who publish the Dake's Annotated Reference Bible and other biblical and theological works by Finis Jennings Dake. While you're there, click on the "Chat Room" button and check out the message board! There are a lot of good Christian brothers and sisters to chat with!”

So again let’s look at Jack’s dishonest and flawed example:: ” It strikes us as odd that they condemn and ridicule Rev. Finis Jennings Dake for teaching the Gap Theory, but remain silent regarding Scofield teaching it.

ODD? The only thing that is odd, is Jack’s complete vacancy and intellectual dishonesty!

But then, Liberalism presumes to judge the teachings of the Bible according to the canon of human reason such as Dake and Scofield. Accordingly, it should be rejected as apostate by true believers of all major Christian traditions.
