�The Bible, in The New Testament in Hebrews 11, upholds those men as Heroes of the Faith. In this chapter, the principles of deception, avoidance and violent self-defense are employed. Surely, the Neo-Conservative Church in AmeriKa today does not look at Samson, who killed Philistines with the jawbone of an ass, as someone to look up to! It was said of David in 1 Samuel, which angered Saul, "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."

As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."

1 Samuel 29:5
Isn't this the David they sang about in their dances: " 'Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands'?"

1 Samuel 18:8
Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?"

The teaching of slaying others is not really replicated in the New Testament as an example for Christ�s Church. In fact, interestingly, Saul�s jealousy of David over this became a significant factor in destroying the relationship between David and Saul. It is notable too, that the counting and the numbering of men �by the tens of thousands� as the people chanted in the streets about David, would be related to a grave sin in David�s adult life when he numbered men in a census. It was counted against David as an affront against God. For David allowed his faith to be placed in the numbers of men which were counted in his census � instead of placing his faith in the power of All Mighty God to grant him his victory and protection.

1 Samuel 21
David at Gath
10 That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath. 11 But the servants of Achish said to him, "Isn't this David, the king of the land? Isn't he the one they sing about in their dances:

" 'Saul has slain his thousands,
and David his tens of thousands'?"

12 David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath.

In this passage, the anointing of David would not have been known to the Philistines (pagans), but his well known exploits were legion to pagans. As Christians we are admonished to be salt and light in our dealings.

On the humorous side: In the next passage of 1 Samuel 21. David used a tactic of feigning insanity to persuade Achish to allow him to leave. If we are using David as our role model for the Church era, does that mean, too, that Christians are to feign insanity as a tactical maneuver when dealing with oppressive government? (wink) Have you noticed that some are naturals at it and don�t need to be threatened by anything, or anyone in order to use the Achish Maneuver? Say, isn�t that is what they call �Pentecostalism� in today�s apostate church? Have you noticed that the ones who have best perfected the Davidic technique seem to also naturally gravitate towards Finis Dake�.and ice cream! LOL!

Matthew 5:11
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Salt and Light

13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven��

If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Remember David wanted to build the Temple for the LORD, but was not allowed to because of all the blood on his hands and the honor was given to his son, Solomon to build the Temple.

~ ~ The sobering thing about mad cow disease (not to be confused with certain churchless bedroom bishops in Moore, OK) rather, bovine spongiform encephalopathy or BSE - is it�s incubation period which is said to be as long as ten years in humans. For this reason we have not eaten beef for several years now. There is an equally fatal human ailment -- new variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, which has killed some 80 Europeans since the mid-1990s, mostly in Britain. Exposure links to this disease have been noted to have taken place YEARS prior to symptomatic evidence appearing. Unfortunately BSE-contaminated cattle bone products had been exported to 70-plus countries around the world and they are used in cosmetics and scores of products that we would never think of. The New Castle disease in the commercial poultry industry has been an outbreak problem a number of times in the past with chickens in Arkansas and East coast having to have been destroyed.
