Subject: Pounce on the PY topic!

Don't hate me, but I agree with whoever said that "paramahansa" actually implies a state of mind, or a state above mind. That is all I agree on, however.

2 things

1. If the "dirty chiseler" comment was true, then his samahdi "might" have been more savikalpa and less than nirvikalpa. If it was true then it was a little more of an emotional response than I would think one in constant samahdi would utter. There is also the point of Yogananda claiming that he could go into samadhi in just one kriya. For one in nirvikalpa there is no more such a thing as not being in samadhi, by definition I mean.

2. I am (re)reading the original AY right now, and I just finally noticed how Yogananda initiated his brother and one more person into kriya while he was still in his teens. Nowhere is it stated that he had been given permission to initiate yet, or that he was even past first kriya at that point in his life. I have never heard of a person still on first kriya being authorized to intiate others.

Of course there are some that will leap to the conclusion that he was so great that it was ok, or it was God's will, but I am skeptical of those types of views. No one else would get away with that stuff.

I mean no disrespect to my SRF friends here and I have respect for what he has done for the popularity and availabilty of kriya. Just commenting on some things that I've been thinking about.

k
