The only way to avoid higher taxes is to cut service. I think the better solution would be to combine all parish governments into one. No Police Jury, No city councils. One Metro government with representatives for districts. One rep for Ball, Woodworth, Boyce etc. a couple for Pineville and a couple for Alexandria. All law enforcement would become One Metro Unit. There are more than enough deputies to cover Pineville City, Woodworth, Boyce,etc. If you combined all service agencies into one, you would need less people. Instead of all the Police Jury, and Council members all getting paid, you would run the Metro with about seven (7-10) total, when divided into districts. Just think, One garbage unit, one Fire unit with sub stations, one utility unit, One Police unit with sub stations, as with the Fire,, One Cheif (sheriff) instead of all the towns Chiefs and a Sheriff,,,, the list goes on. The time has come. We can not afford new taxes every election cycle.
Hang on, the teachers are on the way for a tax increase and then the raise now in place will not be enough, 5-10 yrs, I see us up to a 15% sales tax before to many years. Just look at when the taxes are on the ballots. Easy to pass in January!
Lets put everybody in one basket and cut expense by over 50%, overnight!
