 Eliminating the combined semi-final is a bad idea, as the standard of the advanced and the ex-students could be very different, and it would be a pity to have such a prestigious final not featuring the best of the best. Reducing the number of competitors in each heat should certainly happen, but I'm not convinced it will save time - the justification on grounds of decent marking is enough without that argument. Restricting people to one level for the opens will encourage people to dance down, but they do that anyway so it might have to happen. We are at the core a standard and latin dancesport circuit, and we should look after that first. value-added events like offbeat and rnr should not be our first priority here.
