I agree in general that odds n sods teams should only be comprised of couples from universities who can't enter a full team of their own. That's the whole point of it.

The one good reason for allowing extra couples from a uni to be used is in the case of combining with a uni that can't make a full team. This happens a lot at the Manchester comp. Typically at Manchester, Sheffield might have 3 teams plus one spare beginners couple, and York might have only 3 couples (something similar to that happened this year). In this case it would allow York to enter their team as odds n sods with the spare Sheffield couple, and at least have a chance of making a few rounds in the 2nd division. But I'm still not convinced about allowing that at IVDC.

A better case for inclusion might be where a uni have a spare *individual* who can be lent to another team. Again, this happens a lot at Manchester and works very well. One possibility might be to allow unis already entering a team to donate spare individuals to an odds n sods team rather than spare couples......
However, all this does start getting a bit complicated and moves further and further away from the idea of a *team* match.
