It’s an abusive relationship between her and the parents. She convinces them she stays open for them, when it is blatantly obvious that she stays open for her own pride. She has missed years of her own kids’ lives for this and simultaneously causes so much of her own misery while remaining open. It destroys her private life, her decisions destroy her dance school, the families are dragged through the mud, they spend loads of money on creative ways that are meant to offset the lack of ability she has to keep her dancers relevant by having them do ballet class, having them work with mobility coaches, having them go to a program at a gym, having them pay for monthly mandatory workshops, pay to go to mandatory feises, etc. They all scramble to keep up with the demands and then wind up with poor outcomes. Then the next scandal happens and the cycle begins again. Yet she is undeterred, is that fair to these families? Sometimes the greatest form of compassion is to let something go instead of tightening the grip and forcing something that just isn’t meant to be.
