First of all...welcome welcome to this big mess hehe
Lance's friend is my friend (except the ones thatre self-proclaimed lance's friend)...now....you know whatyou are getting into..right? =) I don't need another loon trailing on my ass wiht unintellegent arguments..(MAMA KRIS..how many times do i have to tell you to argue intellegently!..thinking me in a compromising position!..pssh..heh)

Every violent crime should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, regardless of what motivated the perpetrator of the crime. This can and should be done under existing civil rights laws as Geoff stated above.

True, very true. But, what if the motivation is unclear. Let's say, if a guy name...i don't know, Jon runs into the street, and Mary couldn't stop the car and hit him and killed him. That is a violent crime, but it will be charged almost the same as people dragging James Byrd to death if hate crime does not exist.

Giving any group of minorities protection under federal hate crime laws gives these groups extra consideration that is not warranted. No crime victim is more important than any other crime victim.
I still don't see why people would say giving any group of minorties. Just as I said before, everyone has a sexual orientation, everyone has a race, everyone has age. They have to be fall into those lables, and the law will be covering the categlory, not subcategory. For example, lets say if the bill stated.. Any crime commited against a person based on their sexual oreination is hate crime. That also means if heterosxual people (who is not a minority) is being assulted against because he is heterosexual, it is still a hate crime. (and it does happen, just not as often. But FBI still has stats record on it, if you wanna see, its on Hatecrimes.org, if i remember it right) Or a White guy is being assulted by other races of people because of his color of skin, that will still be a hate crime.

And studies show that hate crime laws do not prevent bias crime.

Can you provide the study? because i would really like to see it. (asking you really nicely =) )Thanx =)
