  • My hands are getting better :) -- Josie, 14:29:47 05/28/03 Wed
    They were SO dry!

Reminds me when I played this game with my dad, mom and sis

You get a word and u suppose to come up with things that

applies to it and if the alternatives are on this card you

get credits. Me and my dad thought of the same thing when

we got - name somethings that is dry! Hahahahahaha

    Anyway my HANDS are dry!

This time Im normally free on the boat, they on their way

Trelleborg. God I know what they will go through.

Like on the boat they don't have a toilet brush.

Guys can't handle the responsibility having one - this one

guy jumped down from the chiminey and broke his back when

I was there so enough said!

And normally ya just clean it very quickly but sometimes it

is stuck there and ya have to really use ur muscles and

I dont like it iwhen it splash in ur face though hahahaha

People pay for these trips. its okay I mean they cant help

this. Putting shit in the sandwhich machine was gross though

but that was before my time. ANYWAY I can understand the

toilet part but what the hell, there was this DYPER from

a GROWN UP PERSON with pee ( thank u god!) on the carpet!

    I mean, come on!

Anyway, the worst part is cleaning deck 2.

I took the elevator and it stoped on deck 4 = car deck and

then ya so realize ya under the water line. Its scary

down there, no ppl, just you, odd light, odd sounds, water

tight door with bells ringing that can or will squeeze

Urge your U.S. Representative to oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment, House Joint Resolution 56, proposed legislation that would amend the U.S. Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. H.J. Res. 56 was introduced May 21, 2003 by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO-04) and is a gratuitous attack on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.

  • I was reading Lance's band journal -- Sergio, 07:56:47 05/27/03 Tue
And I thought it would be a lot of fun if everyone posted on crzy house once in a while as their journal, a sort of "A Day In The Life."

Josie mentioned that she misses Lance's posts that talk about him and JJ. I do too.

I also enjoy reading journals. I think most people do. If anyone would like post their journal entries or just talk about their day or their week-end, etc. I for one would love to read it. Today starts the kick-off of an on-going feature on Crzy House - A DAY IN THE LIFE. I hope everyone will contribute.

As for why has Lance been so quiet. Well, it was a week-end and he IS a slutty rawk star. Even though he doesn't talk about it much, he plays out at bars all the time, and DJ's a lot also. This past week-end, I think his band was on the road, playing gigs out of town.

Here's the latest journal entry from Lance's band journal. I'll post it in the reply to save space.

  • Matrix rulez ok -- James, 19:01:46 05/26/03 Mon
I know there's been some pretty negative opinion here about Matrix reloaded - but I just went to see it and ok it's not quite a classic, but it's definitely comparable to say the empire strikes back as a sequel - actually the moment when morpheus says "it is our destiny" and the way he said it made me want to puke because that liine is SOOOO copied straight out of Star Wars..aaanyway ..

The fight scenes were good (but could have been better i guess), the dance/sex scene was SHITE lol (I can see people watching this in thirty years time saying "this dance stuff mixed with str8 ultra-soft porn is SOOO '00s" lol), and I'd heard a lot about how the philosophy stuff is a load of BS - but in fact I thought most of it was relevent - all the free will/choice stuff - since Neo had no choice from day one even outside the matrix, etc... and the ending was unexpected (to me at least) - and it made me think trying to work out what exactly was happening, which is a breath of fresh air after such philosophical masterpieces recently as Resident Evil and X-Men 2!

Also it makes me wonder about what they can do next - how can they now break out of the controlled causality that they have just completed the cycle of? Are they in unwritten, unforeseeable territory again? ANd what happened to the previous "One"s that came before? Why didn't they tell about the creator of the matrix, and the decision they had to take? Why did noone know that Zion had been destroyed and recreated before? So many questions!

"but to me now it is not a matter of belief...it is a matter of time" ..Does anyone know when Matrix revolutions comes out?

  • Follow up to something i posted a while back -- Joseph Men, 12:43:47 05/26/03 Mon
As I said before the trail finished this could have a very serious effect on protest and activism.

U.S. Focus: Guilty in Silo Protest
Nuns prepare to enter prison Eight-year terms likely for sisters

DENVER Three Roman Catholic nuns facing possible eight-year prison terms for pounding on a missile silo with hammers and smearing it with their blood are spending their final days of freedom thanking supporters before a court decides their sentences.

Released from jail for the first time in six months, the peace-activist nuns are on a whirlwind tour of potluck suppers, doctors' appointments and visits to family and friends.

"Eight years would be a long time to wait to give that gratitude," said Sister Jackie Hudson.

Hudson, 68, Ardeth Platte, 66, and Carol Gilbert, 55, were convicted in federal court of a felony for defacing a Minuteman III silo on Oct. 6 and are scheduled to be sentenced July 25.

The three, dressed in white chemical-weapons suits, trespassed on federal land in northeast Colorado, swinging hammers and painting a cross on the silo with their blood. They argued it was a symbolic disarmament that did not jeopardize national security.

The nuns said they were compelled to act as war with Iraq moved closer and because the United States has never promised not to use nuclear weapons.

They still say they have no regrets.

As they talked about their approaching sentencing, they expressed frustration over being charged with a felony rather than misdemeanor trespassing, as they have been in previous protests.

Prosecutors said the nuns, all closely aligned with the late peace activist Philip Berrigan, showed a blatant disregard for the law and that previous arrests had not deterred them. A federal jury convicted them of interfering with the nation's defense and causing property damage of more than $1,000.

The maximum term is 30 years, but prosecutors have recommended five- to eight-year terms. The nuns are not sure if they will appeal because they are concerned an unfavorable ruling might hurt other activists.

Some peace activists believe the felony conviction was harsh.

In 2001, a priest who broke into a Colorado missile silo dressed as a clown and leaving bread, wine and a hammer, was sentenced to 83 days on a federal trespassing conviction.

A dozen years earlier, Berrigan was convicted of criminal trespassing and sentenced to six months in prison for hammering and pouring blood on a battleship in Virginia. He was arrested at least 100 times for his protests and served a total of 11 years in prison. He died last year, but his brother, Dan, continues protest activity.

"It's clearly an attempt to have a chilling effect on other activists," said Betty Bell, who trains peace activists at the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center in Boulder. "But it's time that we took these risks to call attention to these injustices."

The nuns served nearly seven months in jail as they awaited trial in the silo case, saying they could not promise to remain out of trouble if freed on bond. After their conviction, they were released until sentencing.

Platte and Gilbert returned to Baltimore's Jonah House, an activist community founded by Berrigan. Hudson went to a similar community in Polusbo, Wash. She planned to distribute leaflets against the nuclear submarines at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.

All three planned to meet at their motherhouse, the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Dominicans, before they return to Denver for sentencing.

Before leaving Colorado, the nuns returned to the jail where they had been housed to encourage their former fellow inmates, who they taught to knit blankets for babies in foster care. They also stopped by the U.S. Post Office in Georgetown to thank workers for taking care of the dozens of letters they received from supporters around the world.

"It's given us a new energy," Platte said. "It's a spiritual strengthening to know we're not alone."

  • Here is a article on the verdict in the attack on member of theSexual Minority Student Association at VCU -- Joseph Men, 16:39:26 05/26/03 Mon
Prison Term In Assault On Gay Student

A 20-year-old man was sentenced today to 16 months in prison for attacking two members of a gay student group outside the Virginia Commonwealth University Student Commons.

Before he was sentenced, Andy P. Roberts apologized to Joye Abbott. At his trial in March, Roberts admitted hitting Abbott and breaking her nose but said he did so instinctively after being hit in the face with a glass bottle.

Richmond Circuit Judge Richard D. Taylor discounted Roberts' testimony. He termed his conduct reprehensible and credited testimony from witnesses that Roberts had said, "I'm not afraid to hit a dyke."

The altercation occurred after a confrontation between a gay VCU student and Roberts and two of his friends outside the Commons while a meeting of the Sexual Minority Student Association was underway. The student went to the meeting and said he had been assaulted because he was gay. About 40 people spilled out of the Commons and confronted Roberts and at least six others.

Members of the association told Roberts' group to go home, and his group responded with homosexual epithets.
The confrontation escalated to shoves and the blow from Roberts to Abbott's face. He was sentenced to a year in prison for unlawful wounding in the attack on Abbott and to four months in jail for shoving another member of the association.

  • Does everyone remember the 2000 election -- Dante, 09:54:37 05/19/03 Mon
when we practically BEGGED everyone who read this board to beg their friends to VOTE against a conservative administration because it could affect the appointment of more conservative (ANTI-GAY) Supreme Court Justices which in turn would have a direct effect of the quality of life for all GLBT people in the United States????

Well, despite attempts to educate the gay voters of this country, 33% voted for right wing conservatives. We now have a self-professed FUNDAMENTALIST sitting in the Oval Office, who bases ALL of his decisions on fundamentalist religion. We have an entire network of fundamentalist wacko holy rollers appointed to top administrative positions throughout our nation's government.

Maybe gay conservatives liked how their candidate's hair looked? Or he had nice eyes. Or, and this is my opinion, maybe they just don't give a shit about the rest of us? Maybe they are apathetic about things like equal employment rights, harrassment and hate crimes, domestic partner benefits, same sex marriage, and all the forms of legalized discrimination that we, as GLBT tax paying Americans must endure.

How many times did you have a gay conservative tell you "My vote won't matter anyway. My state always goes Republican."

Whatever the reasons conservative gay voters had for electing this administration, WE will all have to live with the results for DECADES.

    Supreme Court Seat Shuffle?
    Judges' retirements
    would spark first shift
    in decades

Washington - Well-informed court observers say that there could be two Supreme Court resignations next month, Chief Justice William H. Rehn- quist and Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, bringing the greatest upheaval on the court in 32 years.

The White House is preparing for the possibility of two or three vacancies.

With no change on the court in nearly a decade - the longest period without turnover in 180 years - the level of anticipation and preparation by groups on the left and the right is intense.

Both sides expect a brutal battle, with the Republicans even threatening to force a legally questionable change in Senate procedure to prevent a Democratic filibuster. Such a move could itself force a constitutional crisis.

The last time there were two vacancies on the court in one year was 1972, when President Richard Nixon appointed Rehnquist and Justice Lewis Powell.

  • hey raven -- Josh, 23:19:48 05/20/03 Tue
why, in your opinion, is GWB one of the best presidents we've ever had? I’m just curious, and in their own loving way, the denizens of this board were after the same bit of information from you.

lord knows, if anybody has been a lightning rod for righteously indignant replies, it's traditionally been me. but do you know why people respect what i have to say, even if they don't agree with me? b/c i take the time to learn about what i'm saying, research it, present it cogently and logically, and *most importantly*, say things in such a way that people know, while we disagree on the nuts and bolts, we have the same objective: to stamp out the systematic exclusion of GLBT people from the table of human dignity.

you want to come on this board and present a minority opinion? feel free. just know this from somebody who's been doing it for alot longer, some of these people are going to analyze what you write, and they're going to hand you your ass. there are some brilliant people on here, who feel tremendously passionate about gay equality, and if you want to participate, you better step up your game. having an opinion isn't enough, unless you're content to get your ass kicked every time you open your mouth.

my advice, and this is just a friendly tip from one '00 GWB voter to another, do your homework and get your act together before you post again. While you have the right to say whatever you want, you also have to realize you may come off looking like a total ass in the process.

if you step up and hand these people a softball like that again, they're going to clean your clock again. just don't whine about being shouted down. seriously. i've been pretty much the lone voice in the wilderness since before this board existed, and at times, i've had every single poster on here firing rebuttals at me. do you think i just shit the bed and went home crying about how the mean hippie libs denied me my freedom of expression? hell no. i took what they had to say, conceded where they were right ( and believe it or not, liberals/democrats are not always 100% wrong!), and where i disagreed, i showed conclusive FACTS and argued my way out of it.

if you're content to throw out a line or two of weak partisan polemics, and then complain when the big bad hippies (and frankly, i probably smoke alot more pot, and listen to WAY more grateful dead than anybody on this board) call you on it, that's fine. but frankly, most of the republicans i know prefer to speak for themselves. Mega Dittos, rush can speak for himself. and the last time i checked, Foxnews doesn't need another reporter. open a newspaper, read a differing opinion from a source that is reputable (if you need a list of fine scholarly left-leaning periodicals, i'll be happy to point you to them), just don't try to pass off that 2nd rate, keystone kop horse shit that you call an informed opinion off as anything other than it is: regurgitation of baseless demagoguery.

If you want to compete on the oratorical level of this board, you better step it up several notches. If you don’t, you can’t complain when people call you on it. And stop whining. It really is embarrassing.

  • Understanding the Homosexual Agenda -- Sergio, 16:35:19 05/23/03 Fri

There's been some discussion this past week with equal rights being labeled as "special rights". I thought this was an interesting article written by a straight female reporter who took the time to do some research and figure out for herself what all the fuss is about when it comes to people wanting to deny gays equal rights. Yes, that's right. I said EQUAL - not SPECIAL.

It's kinda of long so I will post in the reply. I hope everyone will take the time to read it. I think it's really very good.

  • Holly's Law -- Kanga, 07:51:16 05/21/03 Wed
I know this has nothing to do with gay activism. The only thing it has to do with is a little girl, who disappeared while walking to her friend's home 2 blocks from her home last week. Without going into the gory details her body washed ashore on 12 May. She was 10 yr old Holly Jones. There is an online petition asking the government to invoke 'Holly's Law' that would protect other children from molesters. There were over 200 living in a 3km radius from Holly's home that no one knew about.
If you have the time, would you please visit http://www.hollyslaw.ca and sign this important petition.
    Thank you.

    So, are you breathing

    Wake up, are you alive
    Will you listen to me
I'm gonna talk about some freaky shit now
    Someone is gonna die
    When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die

    Are you breathing now
    Do the wicked see you
    You still breathing
    You're making me known

    What's up, I wonder why
    Do you listen to me
I'm gonna make you do some freaky shit now
    Insane, you're gonna die
    When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die

    I can hear the voice
But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me
    I'll be alright

I can feel the subliminal need
To be one with the voice
    And make everything alright

    So, are you breathing?

Can't you imagine how good going through this will make you feel
I promise, no one will ever know
There will be no chance of you getting caught
    They never loved you anyway
So come on, be a man
And do what you are compelled to do

  • well ... -- Hamish, 16:00:54 05/22/03 Thu
    *peeks in the door*

Haven't been here in a while - not that I ever posted anyhow, but there's a second or third time for everything, right? Or something. Heheh.

A hearty greeting to all those on the Crzy House.

I thought I'd just let you good folks know that it is the birthday of the wonderful Dashel today. Well, not in NZ any more of course, but in America it should persist for a few more hours yet. :)

He turns 20. I know for a fact that he won't actually get to see this, but I can't very well let this day pass without it being remembered, can I? Heh.

    Happy Birthday, my darling boy.

Love and good feelings to y'all,

Alaska Bars State Participation in Intrusive Federal Security Measures: Legislators Say “No” to Abuses Under the PATRIOT Act

    Contact: Media@dcaclu.org

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Civil Liberties Union today applauded passage of House Joint Resolution 22 by the state legislature enforcing the protection of individual liberties for all Alaskans in the face of intrusive federal actions taken since 9/11. The pro-civil liberties resolution makes Alaska the strongest critic of the federal government’s controversial USA PATRIOT Act and initiates policies prohibiting enforcement of the law at the state level.

Alaska’s resolution is the 114th of its kind to pass in a city, county or state jurisdiction around the country. Over 13 million Americans are now covered by these resolutions. Alaska’s is the second statewide resolution.

“This resolution affirms the motto of Alaska, ‘North to the Future,’” said Jennifer Rudinger, Executive Director of the AkCLU. “As a state, we have always led the Lower 48 in respecting and ensuring the individual rights of our residents under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This exceptionally strong resolution reflects our dedication to civil liberties and our deep-seated belief that Alaska – and America – can be both safe and free.”

The Alaska House of Representatives overwhelmingly adopted the resolution, which has enjoyed strong bipartisan support since its introduction, with a 37 to 1 vote. The Alaska Senate passed it unanimously on May 20th, with a 19 to 0 vote. The Alaska resolution is one of the strongest to pass in the nation to date. House Majority Leader Rep. John Coghill (R-North Pole) and Rep. David Guttenberg (D-Fairbanks) both played key roles in getting the resolution passed, as did Senator Johnny Ellis (D-Anchorage).

The Alaska resolution explicitly prohibits state agencies from engaging in racial profiling and prohibits the use of state resources or institutions for the enforcement of federal immigration matters. It also bars state agencies from creating intelligence dossiers on the political, religious and social views of individuals and organizations, unless the information directly relates to an investigation of criminal activities.

Further, in the absence of reasonable suspicion of criminal activity under Alaska state law, it prohibits participation in investigations, detentions and surveillance as well as seizure of personal library, medical, financial, student and sales records, even when authorized by the PATRIOT Act. Additionally, the resolution calls upon the Alaskan Congressional delegation to work to correct sections of the USA PATRIOT Act and other measures that unduly restrict personal freedoms.

The joint resolution is a direct response to the USA PATRIOT Act, the federal anti-terrorism bill that was rushed through Congress in the weeks after September 11, 2001, with little debate. Although some provisions in the bill are non-controversial, others expand government surveillance and law enforcement powers far beyond anything conceivably necessary to prevent terrorism or catch terrorists.

“Security and liberty are not mutually exclusive, and while it is unclear how much safer the PATRIOT Act makes us, it clearly makes us less free,” said Rudinger. “Our own Congressman Don Young, one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress, called the USA PATRIOT Act the ‘worst piece of legislation we ever passed.’ Conservatives, centrists and liberals alike are wary of too much government power over our lives – this resolution affirms Alaskan’s bipartisan commitment to protecting civil liberties.”
