'Jesus Was Gay' Theologian says

(Chicago, Illinois) A noted Methodist theologian says he has confirmed that Jesus was gay.

The Reverend Theodore Jennings Junior makes the case in a new book titled "The Man Jesus Loved: Homoerotic Narratives From the New Testament."

Jennings, a professor at the United Church of Christ's Chicago Theological Seminary cites the Bible throughout the book.

He writes that the "the disciple Jesus loved" who's mentioned in the Gospel of John was Jesus' gay boyfriend. He also claims the centurion's servant who was healed by Jesus actually was the centurion's gay boyfriend and that Jesus did not denounce their relationship.

[This much has been proven true. If you read the bible in it's original Greek the words used do not translate to servant at all. But later translations intentionally mis-translated it to "servant" in order to remove any gay-positive reference.]

The United Church of Christ is considered gay positive. It's policies include an "extravagant welcome" toward gays. The faith ordains gay ministers and many churches offer blessing services for domestic partners.

Although Jennings teaches at the United Church seminary he is an ordained United Methodist minister, whose church officially opposes homosexuality.

Theologians have argued for decades about the sexuality of Christ and Jennings' book is likely to spark a renewed debate.
