Firstly thank you for inviting me to your board to read this discussion because I DO have something to say about it :) When the spoiler comes up ill Announce it :)

I wanna start by saying that I am Homosexual and anything that promoted homosexuality im all for it. With that said, The author of this article is just plane full of crap. As Lance said he is reading way too far into the Movie with his assumptions. In all my years of comic book reading and such Ive yet to find any real 100% concrete evidence of homosexuality, especially in the X-Men series. So I have to say Where this author is messing up with his assumptions.

1. The Rogue/Iceman thing. Yea see, Rogue cannot touch other people because of her powers. Because of that inability she would obviously be a prime candidate for a love story because it is a conflict. Does that represent a Homosexual conflict that they cannot touch each other? No, Since when could 1 homosexual not touch another one? Im confused?

2. The Wolverine/Rogue thing. I think it mentioned somewhere that Wolverine "Fantasizes about rogue." Hey buddy what Movie/Comics you been reading? In the first X-Men Rogue may have had a childlike crush on Wolverine, but its obvious by the end and X2 that Wolverine sees rogue more as a daughter figure and vice-versa. Their relationship, in the movies, was forged on that they both had major changes (Rogue discovering her powers and Wolvering going to the X-Men and finding his past) and they kind of helped each other as friends. No where in the Movies do I see any Sexual tension between these 2 characters.

3. The Underlying theme of the Underground hidden mutants which shows of the underground hidden homosexual community. WTF? Nuff said...

4. The "Coming out" scene at Bobby Drakes house. Sure if you wanted to look at it that way, then thats fine. But Someone who just told their parents they have a new boyfriend, someone who is telling their parents they are leaving for college, or someone telling their parents anything, could take this as a scene for them too. Ya know, If you want to look at it as a model for Homosexual coming out, well I didnt come out by sitting down with my parents and saying it -- In fact I doubt many of us did.

5. The Wolverine/Cyclops/Jean thing. Why is this homosexual in any way? This kind of thing happens in both Homosexual relationships as well as Heterosexual relationships. Cyclops/Jean have a relationship, Wolverine shows up and wants a piece of the pie. Jean finds wolverine attractive (Who wouldnt?). Now shes trying to decide -- and in the end she does decide. How is this homosexual in any way? Im confused again. As lance said that was more of a question of Monogmy then anything and would be a role model to MARRIED couples more-so then any homosexual couple.

6. **SPOILER** -- The end when Jean Commits suicide. Ya know, if you have read the comments you know whats going to happen and you know why Jean did it. She did it because she knew she could and it was the only way to save all her friends. She also may somewhat know what is going to happen if she does -- The whole movie hints toward her realizing something about herself (Which if youve read the comics know its the Pheonix, no big secret there). The fact that Wolverine/Cyclops have to help each other is no way another homosexual theme? They both loved jean why cant they be each other rocks as friends when she is gone?

**END SPOILER**

Ya know, X-Men was always about one thing: Acceptance. ITs always been about that and always will be. Mutants are a minority and they want to be accepted for who they are. Does this mean that they are something that the Gay community can look up to? Sure it does, if a gay person wants to view it that way. Then again any minority group can look to it for support. African Americans, Physically Challenged, Homosexuals, Latin Americans -- Anyone. Whose to say that the writer are Pro-Homosexual and Anti-Physically Challenged? Perhaps they are Pro-African American and Anti-Homosexual? All that matters is that they have written a morally good story and if you wish to uphold it to your own cause then good for you. Just dont try and write things into movies to TELL everyone how the movie is about YOUR cause. Because its not about YOUR cause...its for everyones cause.
