Subject: An invitation to San Francisco ED Steve Takemura

I removed the entire thread about the Miss San Francisco pageant and all the questions about whether titles were open or closed, and when and if they were changed from one status to another. Way to much anonymous speculation without clear answers, and it was starting to turn negative. If anyone out there knows the ED of the San Francisco pageants, Steve Takemura, please let him know that he is invited to come on here and explain the official story of what happened with his pageant's change in status this year, since there seems to be so much interest.

My understanding is that Mr. Arnhym was there, the Field Director was there, and therefore whatever occurred, whenever it occurred, was approved. Clearly, the Miss San Francisco title was open this year, since the winner is from Orange County.

There's one more weekend of locals to end the season. Best of luck to all the competitors!

[> Subject: Personall I think it's wrong that someone who clearly has no affiliation with San Francisco gets to represent my fair city. I realize the rules governing these open pageants are dictated from others. It's just not right.

[> [> Subject: And what about all the girls who aren't eligible anywhere? There are 58 counties in CA and at least 30 of them have no pageants. And even someplace like Orange County only has structured locals limited to certain communities, so if there were no Miss Orange County open, there would be huge areas of that county where girls would have nowhere to compete. And don't even think of responding with "just start up new pageants." It's much easier said than done.

[> [> [> Subject: Some pageants should have larger eligibility areas. There should be regional ones, should be county ones. We need to get to a point where all of California is included in a local eligibility area, but I don't think that limiting girls to two closed titles is as beneficial as Bob suggests.

I like the idea of regional or county pageants. I think it draws more support and attention form the communities as well. The titleholder has a larger area to be visible to.
