I have such mixed feelings about this, on one hand, I know a few ED's who are concerned only with winning and they're sure they know exactly how to mold a contestant to be the winner, mind you not one Miss CA ED has been Miss CA but I digress, they are so caught up in winning and having a Miss CA they don't care who they hurt to do it. They shove their wishes down the girls throats, refuse to purchase gowns they don't like or pay for rehearsal space for talents they want changed, they change paperwork and submit headshots without giving the girls any choice. I think there needs to be more accountability on both sides, ED's that are consistently complained about or are known to cause problems should not have their franchises renewed, there should be madatory training for ED's and a requirement that they have experience on a committee before becoming an ED. Contestants should also be held to their contract and realize they have a job to do and that part of that job is fundraising and marketing the program they represent. In the end I think we need to keep it all in perspective, we love this hobby of ours, we must or we'd never put up with all this nonsense but at the end of the day it is just a pageant.
