Subject: For me, the silliest part of this whole exchange, apart from the fact that it concerned the interaction of the Miss CA crown and Minnie Mouse ears, is the assumption that Crystal was told what to do about every single moment she spent in Atlantic City. While I'm sure she did have her appearance outfits planned according to the schedule she was given, I think it is plausible that a 22 year old Stanford grad with 2 degrees can make the occasional earth-shattering decision, like wearing her crown in the parade, on her own. Not saying she did. But she could have. I'm willing to bet good money she decided what to eat for breakfast that morning without consulting anyone. And had her shoes required tying, she would have done that herself as well. Because that's the kind of independent spirit and independent thinking the Miss America program encourages in its participants. Carry on bravely, ladies!
