The reason the announcement wasn't made on stage this year is because the show was running long and Cassie decided to eliminate a couple of award announcements to speed things up (so we could get out of the theater on time). It happened very fast and Bob couldn't stop her in time, so the awards were skipped. Why did it take so long to announce them? I can't answer that except that immediately after the pageant ends, Miss America prep begins and paying all the pageant bills has to be handled.
