| Subject: Kristy Cavinder was 1st runner-up, and Jackie Fomtaine made the top 10. Also worth keeping in mind, if this panel didn't love Crystal enough to give her a prelim award, they certainly may have loved her enough to get her into the top 15. The celebrity panel takes over from there, and 70% of Sunday night's score that determines the top 5 out of the 15 will be awarded by that panel. They also do the final ranking to determine the winner. So if the celebs love Crystal, and they very well might, Sunday could be a whole different ball game. | |

| [> [> [> [> Subject: Nope, if you are great, they find you, placement has nothing to do with it, and besides she chose that place, meant. Few years ago, Miss ARK. was the 1st one out in talent, 1st night, and was First Runner Up! | |

| [> [> [> [> [> Subject: I'll agree with you to a point. At the local and state level, where the panel usually is has a majority of veteran pageant judges, I think it's true your placement doesn't matter. Veteran judges know what to look for, they can spot it wherever you are, etc. But this prelim panel is not mostly veterans. For many it was their first time judging and despite what is said in the briefing, I think it's somewhat human nature to hold back scores (even subconsciously) or think a girl is, let's say, an 8 but then start seeing everyone else and realizing maybe she was actually a 9. | |

[> [> Subject: I dont think "the panel didnt love her enough" is the term I would use. I judged several state pageant and there have been many times when some of the judges were suprised at the Prelim Winners. There have been many times when I personally did not think that a contestant deserved a Prelim Award but had her as my winner.
