One other point. I don't think Mikaela's performance had anything to do with her appearance. She's a cute girl, looks like a teen, and is a similar type in terms of looks to the winner. MAOT to me is a total crap shoot. I have tapes of every year's competition and I have no clue how the girls that win do so. Except for the last two - Elizabeth Fechtel and Rachel Wyatt - I don't think physical appearance seemed to play a role at all. I do think academics seem to play a disproportionate role in the results. But honestly, I don't have a clue why the girls who win are chosen. There doesn't seem to be much consistency in what they're looking for. Is there even a job description for MAOT like there is for MIss America? It's very frustrating. Yet the same states (mostly Southern) seem to do well year after year. What have they figured out that CA hasn't? Maybe the Teen powers that be need to review those tapes to see if they can figure out "the magic formula" if one exists. -- Miss California Unofficial Message Board

She was not only a dark horse but she was practically an invisible horse. It probably had a lot to do with how Bob prepped them so I guess if Bob doesn't necessarily want a win at MAOT then we need to not be so disappointed when CA doesn't come close to a win, yet again. I'm just frustrated but I don't hold anything against Mikaela. She did her best and its just a pageant but it does seem Cal is in a strange funk right now. We need an ambush makeover from the inside out!
