Author: The jumpsuit was UUUUGLYYYYY! Otherwise the rest were cute and the girls accessorized them beautifully. | [ Next Thread |

| [> [> [> Subject: Katy Tang also wore the "bullet hole" dress. I thought it was pretty cute. I liked some of the outfits/dresses, others not so much. But on a whole, I found them to be more fashion forward and trendy than capris and a bedazzled tank. At least it was something new and interesting. I liked seeing how different girls styled the same dresses different ways, to express their individually. | |

| [> Subject: Those dresses were crap. Poorly made it was a poor showing, the girls looked lile misfits on stage, like they just didn't go together. Kind of like Connie cleaned out her closet and offered the dresses, jumpsuits etc. Go back to the classy way, pick a color for capris and a solid color top. | |
|
Author: And please dont let Connie pick them out. No style!!! [ Edit | View ] |

| [> [> Subject: I liked them too. They flowed well and it was fun to see how the girls accessorized them. The Miss long jumpsuit was great but it's counterpart, the short gaucho-pant jumpsuit, was awful. The dress with all the bulletholes was awful but I think all the rest AND the teens were great. | |

| [> Subject: A sponsor offers items that are of good quality so they are recognized for the showing. Those dresses were hidious. I was told Connie had good taste, maybe on food but those dresses were the worst ever and I've been going to Miss CA as a spectator for years and years. They were almost clown like. | |

| [> Subject: Have you people SEEN what the girls in Tennessee were forced to wear? And those "bulletholes" are GROMMETS. Used HEAVILY this season. Quit whining. Until you go out there and get Sherri Hill or Tony Bowles to hand over 100+dresses, I really don't want to hear miserable, ungrateful people gripe. | |

| [> Subject: I want to clarify a couple of points. The designer did not "step up and offer" out of the blue. The designer was asked to donate opening number wardrobe by Connie Oliver. Also, Connie did not select the outfits that were worn. The designer did. I am certain there are plenty of designers who would love to have their designs livestreamed over the internet with 100 goregous women wearing them. If you think you can do better than what Connie Oliver did, I doubt her feelings will be hurt. Find another designer to donate 100 original outfits next year. | |

| [> [> Subject: Tom, donated unattractive designs should not be acceptable! SO they are free, but not attractive??! In the past the girls have purchased white pants and a top color determined by opening number theme. NOW wouldn't you rather pay for a dress for your titleholder, if reasonable, than freebeeeesssss or those silly white pants and tops?? | |

| [> [> [> Subject: I do not share your opinion that the outfits were unattractive. Frankly, I find the matching capris and color tops over done. But like I said, feel free to find someone who will donate 100 versions of an opening number outfit you find acceptable. | |

| [> Subject: I really liked the opening number outfits, both Miss and Teen, for a couple of reasons. They were very contemporary, they fit the music without being too revealing, and the "variety within limits" concept was really fun. I liked the variety of dress styles for the Teens, all in the same color. And I liked the Miss concept with the multi-colored print and the solid colors all being colors used in the print. And I have to agree, one more year of sparkly tops and black pants right now would be one year too many. It's been done to death. Given the music, cocktail dresses would have looked out of place. | |

| [> Subject: After hearing all the pre-pageant hype, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the outfits for a stage production, especially the Miss ones. And they were free. FREE. Most E.D.'s don't have a dime left in the budget for production outfits. I agree with a previous poster. Until you can get Sherri or Tony to donate, shut the eff up and be grateful. | |

Date Posted: 05:32:04 07/14/13 Sun I too, liked the opening number outfits however I think the distribution of them was definitely not random...two white jumpsuits just happen to go to crystal and jordon, not an accident, and I know that some of the girls were just left with no choice, just a dress given to them at the last minute, seems really unfair. But kudos for those girls, given no choice, rising to the occasion and making the best of what they were given, just seemed very selective with the former girls given more choices than some of the newbies. | [> Subject: I have an idea. So we can get classy, and so we can have great opening number outfits like some of the other states, let's ask Bob to charge each franchise a production fee, say, $100 or $200. Just like those other states do. | |
