[> [> Subject: Hard to believe that Hawaii would choose that placement. I don't know anything about Miss Hawaii but I do know Miss California will be hard to beat! Maybe they are hoping the judges will mix up the scores?? Will the REAL Crystal Lee stand up(and get crowned)!!!

[> Subject: For interview, Crystal's placement is ideal. The judges will have just had lunch and will be feeling fresh. But it is not too far after lunch that they will feel like taking a nap. Additionally, they will have had a chance to gel as a panel since they will have completed the Mu group interviews. The order of competition for the Alpha group is similar to the order of competition for Crystal at Miss California. Two of the last 4 Misses America came from Alpha and both were early in the line up. It is a fallacy that going first or toward the beginning hurts a contestant's chances. Winners come from all over the line up yet there appears to be a slight advantage to going early. My guess is that a girl that is toward the beginning is less likely to get trumped by a stronger contestant ahead of her. Alabama had its strongest track record at Miss America when the contestants were presented alphabetically by title to the judges. Wyoming did not fare so well.

[> Subject: I think Crystal still has a very good chance of picking up the preliminary talent award. The closest competitors might be Arkansas, or perhaps, Michigan, who as the second to last performer, might bring down the house with her baton routine.

[> [> [> Subject: I asked a few years ago and he charged $3000 for Miss America week hair and makeup, airfare and hotel expenses. ANd if you want to see the difference he makes, look at Caressa Cameron during the prelims in 2010, compared to final night (or any time during her year as Miss America.) The difference is night and day.

[> Subject: No way. The placement couldn't be more perfect. If the two Crystals were too far away in contestant order there would be a greater chance of confusing the two. Out of sight out of mind until the second Crystal comes out on stage = possibility of a mix up when it comes down to the wire. Being back-to-back will pretty much guarantee there will be no confusion. There will a be a clear distinction between the two.
