""I
>just felt dirty everytime I used Explorer.""

why is that? b/c of the dArk emPire status of micrsoft?

there is an interesting minor culture of codewriters that believe that like the air we breath, these programs were intended to be free to all users. there's some groups with that as their goal. you on the voy probably know more about unix or soemthing like that than i ever will but it's a ...what's the term? an equivalent to windows ...o yea..operating system

anyway it's an interesting debate. i personally don't quite understand the logic behind the "free" concept but perhaps i am Utopian in believing in the ideal that if you create a product like art, education or software that you will be compensated by its users and thus you are able to sustain your own growth and product development and the like.

in the hunter and gather stage of humans, how would we have considered the family that shows up after harvest and declares their share of pinon nuts for the winter due to some 'share and share alike' ethic they indulge in but while the work was being done they were visiting relatives on holiday out on the plains?

it may sound simplistic and Utopian but it seems logical that if you develop a product or service, that you will be compensated for its use. without that system in place, perhaps we risk complacency, mediocrity, fraud, and overall apathy. show me an example of a successful modern day socialism/centralism and i will be interested to examine my own beliefs further. i'm sure i am as wrong as the next guy with no joke intended.

i'm just unclear what you mean by feeling dirty. i assume tho that by inference i should feel dirty too b/c i use the dark empire's wares?

i think we all have personal habits and pjk i notice one of yours is to poke cryptic barbs at 'war criminals' and things like that without much clarification as if we are all to understand what you are saying. i guess everyone else does.

but i live in the Barrens and don't know that i get it all the time because i'm either out of the loop or just slow. ie: i don't know what firefox is [but i will after i google it...how much is google worth in shares again?]

anyway i can only assume unless you give more context.

i think we are all quite curious, perhaps more curious than you know.
