Then came the clincher. Do you ever eat chocolate? Yes to all the above, and too much caffeine is waking me up. I have been using decaf coffee for three years, but even a little caffeine can do the evil job. So, I have decided to cut the caffeine intake in half. It is the lack of calcium in your muscles that makes you twitch. I'm going on memory here, so forgive me if I don't know all the facts, but I have found over the years that if I have had too much caffeine, that popping some calcium pills helps with the effects. Your body can only absorb 500mg at a time, so in the evening, you can take a pill or two, spaced out to allow time to absorb. It's the calcium in the milk that is helpful. I love hot drinks all day and regular black tea is my choice after my cup or two of coffee in the morning. I will try some of that in a few minutes. Being a man and living alone, for laziness, I prefer to simply heat water and pour it over something to make a hot drink. When I have company I make coffee with a drip perculator, and I always make tea in a tea pot. So, I probably won't use the milk and honey because it'll mean another pan to wash! Lazy? You bet! All you need to do is mix it half and half with milk (I use vanilla flavoured soy milk) and zap it in the microwave (in the mug you are going to drink it from). [> Well, I did my shopping for caffeine free hot drinks today and think I have a solution. I bought a package which has five different herbal caffeine free teas in it, four tea bags of each, and another of lemon, although that flavour is in the first package. I discovered that Postum is still available in an A&P supermarket, so bought a jar of it. One of these choices at least should provide the answer to a satisfying and tasty hot drink which is caffeine free. I don't plan to try one after the other, remembering what Antje said. I tried one of the lemon ones just now and sweetened it with honey. The jury is still out on that one, but I have five more flavours or drinks to try. Oh, and the saleslady where I bought the herbal teas was of the opinion that herbal teas should be used within two years at the most, or thrown out, which I did to my mint tea! [> Has anybody ever heard of "Labrador tea, Muskeg tea"? I had a small sample from Canada and drank it when I had bladder problems. JSīs grandma would boil the leaves for several hours. We did that, and it had an incredible effect on getting the water out of my system. I had to go pee every 15 minutes after 2 cups! Next day my problems were gone.
