• I’m not so sure we have outperformed expectations and in fact we comfortably should have more points than currently. Even these last 2 defeats we have gifted the points. Yes, we have squad weaknesses but also a manager capable of getting the best out of them. I’m personally content with mid table premiership as so it seems are our owners. I fear our manager won’t be.   • Silva might have ambitions greater than FFC but I wonder if they're realistic. He's done a great job for us but all managers have their levels and I suspect Marco is essentially a David Moyes or Graeme Potter. An organiser who will ensure safety but not someone to be successful at a big club. That type of manager usually looks hapless quickly if given the opportunity.       • Funnily enough, it was the apparent lack of that "passion" that seemed so striking to me at the back end of the last two games. I suspect that you think this squad is better than is my estimation. I agree that MS frequently improves players from their previous levels, but not in every game; from time to time, we revert to being more ordinary. • We just need some natural goalscorers to help out as we cant put anyone to bed when we are on top in games.   • Had this Squad been equipped with the depth it needed then certain players would not have been ‘running on empty ‘. I agree that criticism of the Team is unjust but relying on certain players way past their best because of what ‘great servants ‘ they’ve been to the Club is just not a winning mentality .     • Lack of long term thinking where today matters more than tomorrow. In total this season's results with this squad have been good. Of course we're all pissed off when we under perform but we wouldn't be happier with a bunch of young players who don't look good enough. Silva's choice is to go with experience and I think it marks him out as a conservative coach. That's not bad but I suspect this is as good as it gets.   • I'd say we need defenders that don't give the ball away every time we get it. We need a keeper that can keep out shots from edge of area, we need a midfield that actually creates chances for the forwards, we need to score from corners and free kicks, we need the mf to score some goals, we need some youth to be pressing for first team places.     • Agree, Jim, which is why I believe Silva deserves so much credit for the results we’ve achieved so far. One thing that puzzles me with him though, is his insistence on playing out from the back and using Bassey and Robinson so much in that. Seems 75% of our building up play goes to the left, yet neither of those two are particularly comfortable on the ball.       • I’d imagine the idea is probably to draw oppo players to rhe ball that side, him give it to someone inside, ideally Anderson, then Robbo use his pace to get in the space the oppo players have left on their right. It’s become quite predictable though and teams have worked it out, we need a more athletic RB to offer more threat from that side and someone in the middle who’s better at connecting defence to attack if teams number up out wide to counter our full backs.     • Agree very much re defenders. With Bassey we're seeing why we wanted Andersen so badly Last season we were susceptible to the high press. Tosin refused to sign and Ream left even after signing an extension. It left us very vulnerable with Diop bad with long passing and Bassey frequently losing the ball. Why Andersen was so needed. Also highlights challenges with younger players. They aren't the final article. Otherwise, I agree with OP. A good season. • Overall agree, but still disappointed as spurs, Utd, West Ham, clubs with bigger budgets are way off and there’s been great opportunity there, coupled with FA cup with Liv, Ars already out of it. Overall a solid season, we pay wages about where we are and still have chance of Europe, think league will get tougher with Leeds up and some of the bigger budgets will get it right some point. • All the other ‘smaller’ mid table teams are also now suffering, including forest. Whilst villa, city Newcastle, I think Chelsea will now, power on and embrace the pressure at end of season, likes of us, B.mouth, BHA, palace are starting to struggle a bit, I’d imagine to do with squad quality and fact lot of their players have been there before. 8th still well in play though, which turns a solid season into a really good one, with a dash of missed opportunity.
