Ravin thanked Erlic for the S shaped dagger then wrapped it in a piece of leather before shoving it into his pack. Hopefully, he'd find a sheath that would fit it, and if not, he'd simply purchase one later. As he watched the women rush off to a room full of clothes that Erlic pointed out, he tried to figure out why Jade had avoided answering his question about what weapons she was proficient with. It didn't make sense for her to enter a potentially dangerous area if she didn't know how to protect herself. Unless she's like Eremis and rushes off to hide at the first sign of trouble.

Thoughts of the healer brought an image of him to Ravin's mind. He saw Eremis being embraced by a man with pale green eyes and honey colored hair. Ravin fought to hold on to the image, hoping to gain some insight to the youth's location, but it slipped away quickly. He learned long ago that visions could not be forced. The inability to control them used to upset him immensely. He hated being taken over by a vision when it decided to present itself, because it shifted his consciousness for a moment and left him in a state of confusion for several minutes afterwards. A person in his line of work couldn't afford to let their attention waver for even a second!

After a while, Ravin decided to join in on investigating the rooms in the tower. He made his way back down to the second floor, and randomly chose one of the many closed doors that stood at the west end of the tower. Since most of the dead bodies of the Sharm were to the north of him, he didn't have to step over them on his way to the door. A visual examination of the portal turned up nothing, and his magic stone detected no traps. The door was locked, but quite easy to open when one knew how to pick locks.

A moment later, he stood inside the room, his eyes taking in its contents. A large bed, desk with chair, and two wooden trunks filled the room. Ravin made his way to the desk first. Unused parchment was stacked to one side, while a number of quills, two bottles of ink, and a small jade statue of a frog sat at the other end. Since Ravin could use such items for his writing practice, he pulled out an empty sack and began filling it. The jade statuette was probably a paperweight that could probably bring him a decent amount of gold should he decide to sell it. As soon as his hand touched the thing, something resembling an intense electrical charge coursed through his body, sending him to his knees where he withered in pain for a moment.

"Damn magical traps," he hissed between clenched teeth. His stared at the burns on his right palm then once his body stopped shaking so severely, he got to his feet and stared at the statuette, wondering why someone would bother to place a trap on such a thing. Normally, magical traps only had enough power to work once, but he wasn't about to take any chances. He took out his trap sensing stone, his hand shaking slightly as he pointed it at the frog statue. When it assured him that the trap had been negated he lifted the paperweight and found a small cuplike opening in the desk beneath it that held a solid gold key with strange runes engraved on it. He stuffed the paperweight into his sack then after making sure there weren't any traps on the key he slipped it into a pocket.

Although he still had two trunks to investigate as well as a few drawers he saw on the other side of the desk, he moved to sit on the bed, laying his pack beside him. Gingerly, he rummaged through his pack, looking for a clean cloth to wrap around his badly burned hand, which was quite painful at the moment.
