Subject: Jim Cramer's "Real Money" Is History

According to Mediaweek.com, Cramer's show is one of 15 that Premiere Radio Networks will cancel by the end of the year. The shows were reportedly put on the cutting block because they weren't profitable.

So, does Premiere shove another show down PHT's gullet or do we get a local hour back? And who fills it? The hour's still past Katz's contract 'bedtime' of 7PM, but Dom could get a third hour, or Rollye might get to start before midnight.

How about a one-hour "Best of Phil Hendrie"??

The real question is, when is Glenn Beck's time up?

I would believe in Santa Claus again, if Beck's show was cancelled. Strange I don't hear much about O'Reilly's show and how the ratings are doing on 1210. I find it very hard to believe that he is doing well. Grace..... send in the 82nd Airborne and clean house in one swope. I'll call in the "grid coordinates" for the DZ if you want.

How many would then go back to the radio show afterwards? That being said, I find O'Reilly more palatable than Beck. Less noise, better historical context (could be the relative ages of the hosts). -- Tilde, 13:18:33 11/06/02 Wed

I read your other post about Heath Kits and it brought back memories of the late 50's and early 60's. I too, built a few radios back then. I also agree that a radio broadcasting company is in business to make money. But, I don't see how Beck and Katz are adding to the bottom line for WPHT. If the younger listeners are in support of the two, so be it. I now listen to 710 AM.

Never had any desire to be a radio programmer/executive. I'll stick with my vocation, physical chemistry, even though now retired.

[> [> [> [> Beck has already been around longer than that. I'm told his numbers are.... discouraging, and that's compared to Imus. Until WPHT can get control of their lineup, that 3.0 rating 12+ is the best they can hope for. Based on that number, we can infer that the 25-54 male figure isn't much better overall. As the only mainstream talker in town, they should be doing MUCH better. -- Tilde, 09:05:48 11/13/02 Wed

Based on the last book, 1210 could use his listeners.
His "technical analysis" would do much better on WPHT and that would bring about another local show that had a focus on the people of Philadelphia. In particular the police and firefighters that benifit from his services.

[> You have to give Cramer this- he has the funniest disclaimer in broadcasting: "...non-factual statements made by Mr Cramer and any of his guests are their current opinions only, and subjct to change without notice.." -- Rockford- Doesn't exactly inspire confidence., 10:15:19 11/21/02 Thu
