In terms of what was out there at this point, UMass did well. Apparently Lowe was swayed by the fact that he would likely have a shot at a starting job, and the abundant playing time available. That's the breaks, sometimes. The qualifying issue is huge, however. Well, sometimes you just get beat. I'm skeptical that playing time wasn't more of a factor, however. UMass has a gaping hole at the point guard position. I can't imagine that the potential to start wouldn't have been extremely enticing to him. But only Lowe and Cimmino are the ones who really know what swayed him (I am skeptical of the spin from opposing coaches). (NT) -- Ramfan, Thu April 14, 2005 00:00:08
- I talked to someone who spoke to Lowe himself after his visit. He said the first thing Lowe mentioned to him was that the location of UMass was perfect. He wanted to get away from home.
