As much as it would be nice to have lacroose, don't you thinkg we first need to be able to get our EXISTING PROGRAMS experience some winning records. Also, new sports means more expenses. i would much rather us improve our facilities which is a huge priority before we add fine sports like lacroose. CHAKA -- Fordham Rams Basketball Message Board

Chaka, I agree. Let's work on our existing programs before expanding into new areas. The cost & Title IX implications of adding lacrosse would be a major hurdle--especially if we ever decide to go scholarship football. Who knows? If this west-side stadium is for real, maybe Fordham could eventually move to Division 1A, and play some opponents like BC and Army in front of decent-sized crowds. Of course, Fr. McShane seems dubious about this (whatever his feelings on lax) and, at best, this would be years in the future. Yet, In both academics and athletics, I'd rather see us doing a few things well rather than trying to do more things in a mediocre way. (NT) -- JCC, Mon April 04, 2005 14:36:22
