Another interesting note, Doherty was a frontrunner for the Tulsa opeing before they recently hired Doug Wojcik, a Tom Izzo assistant who was an assistant under Doherty at UNC. Not just a factory but Izzo's assistants have been successful in their own right. Compare that to some of Coach K's assistants -- well regarded but have struggled. Snyder, Amaker, O'Toole have not known much success. Brey had a good run @ Delaware but ND has not done as well during his tenure as had been expected. Very good point. You look Crean at Marquette, Heath at Arkansas, Joplin at Toledo, and of course Brian Gregory at Dayton, all have had degrees of success. I agree that Capel is a hot coaching prospect and will land at a bigger program in the next few years. I know he played at Duke, but was he an assistant there as well?
