Another interesting note, Doherty was a frontrunner for the Tulsa opeing before they recently hired Doug Wojcik, a Tom Izzo assistant who was an assistant under Doherty at UNC. Not just a factory but Izzo's assistants have been successful in their own right. Compare that to some of Coach K's assistants -- well regarded but have struggled. Snyder, Amaker, O'Toole have not known much success. Brey had a good run @ Delaware but ND has not done as well during his tenure as had been expected. - Very good point. You look Crean at Marquette, Heath at Arkansas, Joplin at Toledo, and of course Brian Gregory at Dayton, all have had degrees of success. I agree that Capel is a hot coaching prospect and will land at a bigger program in the next few years. I know he played at Duke, but was he an assistant there as well?
