  • Well, since it's an Irish bookmaker, the prophecies of St. Malachy would appear to point to Cardinal Lustiger of Paris. Although I agree Musial is more popular. (NT) -- John, Mon April 04, 2005 18:44:59
  • Do you say that because the reference to olives pertains to the Holy Land, the home of the Jews, and Cardinal Lustiger is of Jewish descent? Some Benedictines think that the prophesy means that the next pope will come from their order, because they have an olive on their shield, and are also known as the Olivetans. St. Benedict himself is supposed to have predicted that a Benedictine would lead the Church in the days leading up to its final fight against evil. If you believe the prophecies, the next pope may be the last pope before Peter II, whom Malachy is said to have predicted would preside over the end of time. Of course, then there is the whole issue of authenticity. (NT) -- JoltinJoe, Tue April 05, 2005 06:56:38
