Subject: Good point West Ram. Anytime I see recruiting info posted about someone who we have interest in and then see what other schools are interested in him and see that it's a Big East or ACC program, I don't even bother thinking that we have a shot at getting the guy.
In reply to: West Ram 's message, "This has all been said before, but it is worth repeating. We haven't won one of these one on one "recruiting wars" with a major national power in a long time (if ever). For the foreseeable future we're either going to have to find real talent before the others or find the kids that are terrific but for whatever reason are undiscovered or un-ranked. I can't get too worked up about Austrie who became the focus of Big East, Pac 10, and other schools that, at present, are perceived as, for lack of a better term, glamourous by HS ballers who are in the spotlight. Our day will come, though. We'll know it when we win one of these recruiting battles with a major school." on Wed March 30, 2005 10:01:14

  • Be careful what you wish for. We actually won a few of them during Hill's 1st recruiting class. We'd all like to land the star recruit but DW seems to know where to find the diamonds in the rough. (NT) -- bfg, Wed March 30, 2005 10:10:34
  • Yeh, but Hill lured them with his ties to the NBA and promises (or implications) of a professional carreer . How many of his recruits left (or were asked to leave)college early? Also, Hill was not too particular about their academics and committment to education. Those are battles we could had lost and still have been better off for.
