Thought this might be of interest to my fellow Ram fans which was in today's Providence Journal article by Kevin McNamara...
"The Friars may have stumbled onto a steal late in the recruiting game in point guard Craig Austrie of Stamford, Conn. Austrie, a 6-2, 180-pounder, led Trinity Catholic High to a 26-2 record and second place in the Division I playoffs. He owns an eye-popping 80-3 record as a starter and yesterday was named Connecticut's Player of the Year by Gatorade.

Austrie verbally committed to Massachusetts last fall but when Steve Lappas was fired last week, other schools pounced. The Friars have made a strong impression and Austrie will visit PC next week, according to Trinity coach Mike Walsh.

"It's really picked up for Craig," said Walsh. "Providence, UConn and Fordham have offered. He's been a starter for the last three years and plays very under control, is quick and makes good decisions."

- It is not that simple in my opinion. There is a good article in ESPN Magazine about two seniors at Rice and the troubles they have gone through with the deaths of their mothers. In that story it mentions that one of them got a scholarship offer to Syracuse, but he chose Rice b/c of immediate playing time and the degree he was going to get. If the offer to UConn involves being 3rd in line which at this point it does then taking it is not a lock in my book. To me there is a lot more to it than just taking an offer from the best team.
